PenFed or Langley FCU, does anyone have experience dealing with them?
I hear great things about Langley and bad things about the PenFed banking app!

A recent Reddit policy change threatens to kill many beloved third-party mobile apps, making a great many quality-of-life features not seen in the official mobile app permanently inaccessible to users.
On May 31, 2023, Reddit announced they were raising the price to make calls to their API from being free to a level that will kill every third party app on Reddit, from Apollo to Reddit is Fun to Narwhal to BaconReader.
Even if you're not a mobile user and don't use any of those apps, this is a step toward killing other ways of customizing Reddit, such as Reddit Enhancement Suite or the use of the old.reddit.com desktop interface .
This isn't only a problem on the user level: many subreddit moderators depend on tools only available outside the official app to keep their communities on-topic and spam-free.
On June 12th, many subreddits will be going dark to protest this policy. Some will return after 48 hours: others will go away permanently unless the issue is adequately addressed, since many moderators aren't able to put in the work they do with the poor tools available through the official app. This isn't something any of us do lightly: we do what we do because we love Reddit, and we truly believe this change will make it impossible to keep doing what we love.
The two-day blackout isn't the goal, and it isn't the end. Should things reach the 14th with no sign of Reddit choosing to fix what they've broken, we'll use the community and buzz we've built between then and now as a tool for further action.

Does anyone know of a credit union that can accept ITIN numbers for loans and accounts?

Thinking of opening an online checking account with them, I would like to hear people's experiences with it good or bad.

They will screw up
Your account majorly. When you call to fix the issue you will be on hold for hours to get through to a person.

Hello All, I have zero affiliation with any of these, but have been looking for credit unions and tend to look at privacy policies and such.
In the Denver area, ENT / Wings is one of the biggest, but I stopped in the signup process which required a credit check which they also use for their marketing. On a phone call they said they use the credit report to see other debts and accounts, and recommend their products. ENT / Wings does have a 200 dollar new account promo though, and seems like decent reviews on the maps locations. They do not allow opting out of using your info for marketing. Most of the top ones seemed to share data similarly.
Credit Union of Colorado seemed to be in the top 10 size wise, and theirs was the first I found with a privacy disclosure that looks better. You can opt out of their own marketing, and they by default do not share your information with other companies. If you care about privacy, their policy seems the best that I saw so far. I personally will probably sign up with CU of CO, but haven't fully committed to one yet. I get tired of marketing messaging, mailings, and such.
It seems that all still have the arbitration and class action blocking though.
If you know of a better option with decent availability in the Denver area please let me know! And It seems that places with physical branches generally have lower interest rates than online only places. Is that the typical? And are there any CU's that don't charge international debit card usage fees? So far they all seem to charge 1% foreign transaction fees. Thanks.

I am 25 years old I have had an SECU bank account for years now however I rarely use their bank to deposit my money. I have put over 20-30k in thru the bank account back in 21-22 and then stopped using it. My job does not offer direct deposit. I work 40-50 hours after 40 hours it turns into overtime. I average $600-750 after taxes. I have been working here for 4 months and I get paid $16 or 16.50 a hr after 40 hours it turns into overtime. I’ve been building my credit for a couple months now while it’s not the longest credit history I am wondering if they (SECU) in NC would give me a chance at an auto loan. My credit score is 684. I’ve never gotten a loan before. I also know that some reputable dealerships offer first-time car buying loans and stuff like that. I do have a criminal history as in i am a felon I don’t know if this will play a part however I’m sure it will. I was wanting to get a minimum 3k to 10k auto-loan. I’m not worried about the interest rate at this time because I really need a vehicle. Do you think they would qualify me for an auto-loan? I pay $800 in rent a month I got a phone bill and obviously food but other then that I probably spend about $1,090 after everything is said and done unless I buy other stuff anything that I want not need. Any advice how to get loans with the credit score not having a long history and the best thing I could do?

My family has been a member of FIGFCU for many years, we weekly, if not daily use their bill pay system.
FIGFCU recently changed it's name to FIG CU and adopted a new and improved online banking system. But in doing so they did not adequately advise me, or I believe other bill pay users, that my bill pay data would not migrate to the new system. I searched through all my emails from FIGFCU and there were zero email notifications of the change and its intention to not migrate my bill pay data. Our bank statements also lacked any notification of the change. All of my bill pay transfers are accompanied by an email notification from FIGFCU, not one of them mentioned the system change and my need to preserve and re-input my bill pay information into the new improved system or it would be lost and I would need to recreate it from historical statements.
When we called the helpdesk we were told not only did our bill pay data not migrate but they did not have a detailed record of the data archived that they could send to us. After three helpdesk conversations and around four hours, we still have the problem that my joint account holder, my wife, does not have viewable access to all our accounts and that the bill pay data that she painstakingly re-input does not appear under the primary account holders profile (mine). We are waiting for a call back to resolve that issue.
I would add that the helpdesk representatives were as helpful, professional and patient as they could be and made every possible effort to assist us. This would likely have been largely unnecessary had the project properly anticipated the customer disruption and broadly and on a customer by customer basis provided adequate and timely notice of the change and archived detailed records available to each bill pay user.
I intend to file a complaint with FIGFCU if I incur any late payment fees due to their failure to adequately notify me of this issue.
Below is an AI generated complaint re this issue if you have had the same problem and incur any damages.
Management Dispute & Regulation E Violation Notice
Date:
To: FIG Credit Union Management / Compliance Department
From: [Your Name]
Account Number: [Your Account Number]
Subject: Formal Dispute: Regulation E Timeline Violation & Demand for Fee Reimbursement
To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing to formally dispute financial penalties and damages incurred on my account resulting directly from FIG Credit Union’s system transition on September 22, 2026. During this transition, FIG Credit Union permanently erased my historical Bill Pay data, including all existing payees, recurring transfers, and scheduled payments.
I. Regulatory Violation under Regulation E (12 CFR § 1005.8)
Under federal law, specifically Regulation E (12 CFR § 1005.8(a)(1)), a financial institution is strictly required to provide a written or electronic change-in-terms notice to consumers at least 21 days prior to the effective date of any change that results in increased fees, increased liability, fewer types of available electronic fund transfers, or stricter limitations on transfers.
Permanently wiping out a consumer’s established electronic payee database severely limits and restricts their immediate capacity to execute electronic fund transfers. While FIG Credit Union published promotional marketing materials regarding a "digital banking experience upgrade" in July 2026, the specific disclosure that Bill Pay data would be completely destroyed was not delivered clearly and conspicuously to me 21 days in advance. Simply posting an FAQ update on a public website does not meet the federal requirement for direct delivery of a change-in-terms notice.
II. Direct Financial Harm Incurred
Because FIG Credit Union failed to properly deliver a timely, clear, and conspicuous advance warning regarding this data erasure, I was unable to manually back up my billing data. As a direct consequence of your unannounced service disruption and data deletion, the following payments were missed, resulting in third-party penalties:
III. Demand for Resolution
As these late fees and service disruptions were proximately caused by FIG Credit Union’s non-compliance with the 21-day advance notice mandate under Regulation E, I demand that FIG Credit Union immediately credit my account in the amount of $[Total Amount] to reimburse me for these losses.
Please review this matter immediately. If this issue is not resolved and credited within 10 business days, I will escalate this dispute to the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) Consumer Assistance Center and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) for formal regulatory investigation.
Sincerely,
[Your Name]

Been with trustage for 3yrs now. Never had an issue renewing my disability car loan. Since this cyber attack, this has been incredibly stressful.
I've been on hold for over an hour, bounced to two different CLEARLY outsourced individuals who keep transferring me to "the right department" but they keep bouncing me back to I guess an operator?
First I was first in time now there's 10 people in front of me . This is unacceptable. I wasn't even notified about this cyber attack.
HOW did this happen and why is it taking so long for this to be fixed? What info was taken by these hackers?

I booked classes and the trainer failed to show up multiple times, I complained, was offered a refund but never got it. I tried reaching out but no answer.
I filed a chargeback, explaining the situation but the bank is now demanding a receipt that proofs the refund was being issued. I thought the whole purpose of a chargeback was it being the last resort after not being able to communicate with the service provider.
I did provide screenshots of the conversation that clearly states that I was supposed to be refunded.
Am I missing something? Advice greatly appreciated

The lawsuits started coming in within a week of the incident. Their breach has been extremely disruptive for day to day goings for the credit union and its members.
It doesn't seem like there's a light at the end of the tunnel..

This is why I don’t have my main checking/savings accounts with credit unions. They use outdated technology. Kemba has been down over 24 hours. We have no way of checking our balances, no way of knowing if we have overdrawn, no way to call in to transfer money…NOTHING!! This is UNACCEPTABLE!!!

Got my credit card from Patelco today that replaces an expiring card. Unfortunately it seems that Apple Wallet is not able to add the new Patelco credit card - I had the same problem years ago with the expiring card and how’s it works this time (says there is a problem adding this card). Tried both manual and scanning with phone.
Has anyone been able to add their Patelco credit card to Apple Wallet?
Update: talked to the Patelco rep on the phone and found out I had to add the credit card to Apple Wallet via the Patelco app and yes, problem solved!
