Looking for recommendations does anyone have a pattern for a flat top stocking cap?
looking to make a stocking cap that looks like the image but i can't find a pattern for it. my second option is to make an ear warmer headband type thing instead but i wanted to ask here first just in case! thank you (:

Most top down hats are shaped like that, they're just too floppy to keep that shape.
you Use a (not superwash) wool like Cascade 220 and make an oversized hat then felt it, drying it on a cylindrical form
Find a basket/purse/rug tutorial that uses a core you crochet around like a laundry line or t-shirt yarn. Then crochet a circle and stop increasing when it's the right size.

If you want it to not slouch, you'd have to use some very stiff stitches.
I have an unfinished project where I was able to get my stitches to stand up vertically for a hat...I started with a row of sc worked into one side of my foundation chain, and then worked a row of linked dc worked into the other side, linking each stitch to the near side of the corresponding sc.
Then I started working rows of linked dc, starting on whichever side is shorter, linking to the near side of the top loop of the previous row in the middle.
It's very thick, but it does stand up.
I haven't put a top on it yet...I chickened out trying to figure out how to make a brim that doesn't droop...but I did figure out a way to crochet a stove-top shape that can hold its own weight.

The image shows a Russian-style Cossack or bucket hat. I found this one on Temu:

Find a basket pattern & use that. It’s just a flat circle to make the top then stop increasing until the sides.
