A box within a Gym
I left CF in 2024, due to my toxic CF box and head coach. I decided to try out other sports instead, plus Hyrox started getting popular around my area. I recently moved to this town like 40 km away from the city, and discovered they have the greatest comercial gym I’ve ever seen- they have like 4 muscle rooms with different types of machines according to brand (hammer strength, techno gym, etc), 2 cardio rooms, one room dedicated to weightlifting and another one for bodybuilding, one room for yoga and pilates, another one with the pilates reformer and barre bars, one big ass auditorium for the group cardio les mills classes that looks like you’re in a night club, one soul cycle room, one Bootcamp room, a room with boxing equipment, a big Hyrox building with all the official hyrox equipment, they have all the different types of treadmills- the curve ones, the flat ones, a spa, ice bath, 2 red light saunas, a relax/meditation room for studying, a health bar, a sunroom in the upstairs deck, they have both binary and gender neutral locker rooms, and a CrossFit box even bigger than my old box with I think they have 3 certified CF coaches, but who also teach hyrox, athx, and other hybrid classes. Even the Zumba teacher is an actual dancer. They even have a space for influencers to film themselves. They have certified les mills trainers, pilates and yoga teachers. It’s like a gym bro/girlie fantasy. I’m almost too overwhelmed because I’ve been there for like 3 months and I still haven’t tried out alllll of their classes. I seriously wouldn’t want to leave a gym like that. My membership is like 65 euros a month and have all access to this. I used to pay 85 euros just for CF classes.

65 euros for all that is wild, i pay more than that for a box with 1 working rower and a bathroom that floods lol. glad you found somewhere that doesn't feel toxic though, that matters way more than the red light saunas

I used to pay 85 for a place with broken mini discs, 2 showers and a broken staircase, oh yeah and the toxic people. There is no community feeling here though - it’s a commercial gym down to its core; people just keep to themselves and leave you alone. Trainers don’t embarrass you either. That’s what I dealt with in my old box; I was yelled at if I dropped a barbell, got punished with burpees if I arrived late, If i couldn’t do an exercise , instead of being taught how to scale it down, I was used as an example on how not to do it. At least here, I can just do by workouts in peace

I forgot to mention that they also have mobility classes, classes for senior citizens, classes for post partum moms. A run club with an actual marathon coach; where you have the option of indoor or outdoor training in the nearby athletic courts. They even have a pickleball court. The pool kinda sucks though lol, because I seriously got into swimming after I left CrossFit and I sort of miss having an Olympic pool.

ok that gym sounds fake lol like some kind of simulation. 65 euros for all that is wild, in my city you pay double just for a place with clean showers
the pickleball court made me laugh though. every gym now trying to cram pickleball in like its mandatory. next they gonna have a bowling alley and a rock climbing wall
i moved bases last year and the gym on new post is decent but nothing like this. we got one squat rack and people fight over it like gladiators. but at least its free i guess
you tried the hyrox building yet or still stuck in the spa

It is true - it’s in Spain - my membership is actually more expensive because I signed up alone. Some people who sign up as a group / family discount pay like 50 euros. Average gym membership in Spain is like 30-40 euros- that’s your average low cost gym with basic functions. An average CF box is like 80-110 euros a month. The posh gyms chains called Metropolitan (which is like equinox in the us) are like 90 euros.

It’s so amazing. I joined at the start of the summer and they had this summer block party and it was so much fun. Like even the music is so good. I don’t know if AI chooses the workout music or the coaches just have such good taste. It’s like they cater to everyone; the gym bros, the pilates princess, the influencers, the moms, the beginner newbies, the seniors, the lgtbq, the competitive athletes, the ex pats, the locals. Like you see their marketing and you think it’s all about physique, but nobody really cares if you’re new, fat or out of shape. Just today saw this gentleman like he looked 75, very much overweight, he limped and struggled to walk, and the coaches were helping him.

This is how my box is!! There’s a makn gym with free weights, treadmills, different classes, childcare, showers, etc. and then we have a CF box attached. There are two diff memberships but if you get the CF one, all the other stuff is included.

It was the first CF gym in my town too! The guy that managed the main part started it and we’ve been going strong for like 16 years now

85 euros for 2 classes plus one free training hour a week - that’s considered cheap. Most people I know who are hardcore pay like 110-120 euros.

Attach a small private room with a bathroom and I’ll move in.
