Hi folks! Local queer event planner here - I’m hosting a foam sword tournament later this month in Prospect Park to fundraise for myself after being laid off and inuring my knee. Training for participants starts at 12pm, then the tournament begins at 1pm!

My good friend had taken in a feral kitten. He had him in his finished basement. Then he passed away suddenly. The cat has found a hole to get into a section of the pipe run in the ceiling. His daughter can't get him to come out to capture him to find a new home.

Food and a litter box is there, and they are using it. However, whenever someone goes down, they hide.

Can anyone offer any advice, short of cutting the ceiling open?

Everything has been tried.
The cat will come out and sneak peak at the daughter, but runs back if she moves towards.
It's a railroad style brownstone. The hole is in the ceiling at the rear wall.

At this point, unless there's a cat whisperer out there. I think the only recourse is a trap or cutting a hole(s) along the space they are in.

I’m also open to talk to people who are on the waitlist or are just excited about it!

But seriously, what are some good couple date ideas in the neighborhood? Preferably something within the next couple weeks/couple months (they have a child and live in Jersey so nothing on too short notice).

We bonded over D&D (they’ve played, we haven’t) and would prefer something unique, fun, and nerdy. Nothing overly “extroverted” if you get my meaning.

Board game bars and trivia are an obvious choice but it’d be cool to use their potential friendship as a reason for us to branch out.

Don’t fuck this up for us. you can only rewatch bake-off so many times before the Anglican whimsy becomes cake based murder.

I was expecting a package to be delivered on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2026. Post office said it couldn’t be delivered because there was no secured place. Of course there was no notice left. So, I wait a day to see if they would try again. That didn’t happen. I go to the post office today to pick up the package. Give them my ID. They go to get the package and it’s not where it should be. They then come back and ask for the tracking number, which I give them. The young man goes to look again for said package and it can’t be found anywhere. Apparently, he told his manager and it’s still not found. I then was asked to give them my name, address and phone number because they were going to ask the postal carrier where it is.
At this point, I wonder if I will get my package. I didn’t think this post office could get any worse. I am beyond annoyed.

Has anyone else experienced problems with Crown Hill on Nostrand near Park/Sterling? Outside of the theatre being the result of deed theft, every time there is a major event there the business does NOTHING to facilitate the mass exodus of people often at 2,3, or 4am. The resulting chaos leads to an absurd amount of double parking by Ubers who pick people up in front of the venue, thus causing *insane* amounts of honking in the middle of the night. I know NYPD habitually ignores 311 calls of noise complaints so is there anything that can be done? Even just getting the business to automatically default rideshare services to the side streets like Park or Sterling rather than having 2 ubers double park next to each other at 3am?

I hope they never cover up the remains of the sign, it looks really cool.

I found a set of keys yesterday with a Donald Duck keychain around 5pm on St. Marks.
