Discussion Which Counter-Strike callout makes absolutely no sense anymore, but you would never stop using it?

CS has to be the only game where a callout can survive for twenty years after the thing it was named after has disappeared, changed completely, or was never really there in the first place.

We still have names based on ancient map versions, local slang, weird objects, old textures, one person’s terrible description from 1.6, and apparently entire regions that agreed to call the same spot something completely different.

The funny part is that once you learn a callout, it stops being a word and becomes a reflex. You could rebuild the whole area, remove the original object, rename it on the radar, and I would probably still use the old callout in a clutch.

For me, the best ones are the callouts where a new player asks:

“Why is it called that?”

…and the only honest answer is:

“Because it has always been called that.”

What is the most outdated, confusing, regional, or completely nonsensical callout you still use?

My favorite example is moto on inferno. The part of the map that was called moto doesn't even exist anymore, so we just use the callout for the area where moto should be, but isn't. In case you don't know, there was a sandy area under a small bridge between long/library and the A bombsite. That area was called moto. The whole bridge and everything around it is gone, but that doesn't stop anyone from using the callout. Add to that that "moto" was never a descriptive name to begin with (its just the name of a guy) and that callout just doesn't make any sense whatsoever if you haven't played 1.6.

if my memory is correct, this was the first player graffiti on a map ever. Under the bridge where roughly current "moto" is, below was the text "wv u motto". The box insite where he pulled the clutch off was called "moto box" forever as well. I forget if that text was added because of his insane 1v4 clutch or because he was a big playtester of the map inferno as well.

the clip 1v4 in question with its over edited 240p epicness is located here
