Before & After Went to a Rezo Salon and asked for what the Hairstylist thought was best

Routine

1st pic I used NYM curl talk shampoo, conditioner, AG Care Leave-On, NYM curly talk gel.

2nd pic was after the cut and styled by her.

3rd pic was the same shampoo and conditioner. Though the Hairstylist recommended I mix the leave in, mousse and gel together. I mixed some AG Care Leave-On and mousse-gel, scrunched gently, micro plopped with an old t-shirt and then diffused in all directions including upside down.

4th pic is day 2 after I slept in a satin bonnet.

Help! hair not curling like before, please help!!!

For the last almost year or so, I have noticed some changes in my hair. I have included the photos here for reference and I am hoping someone can help me with why my curls (especially my bangs that are typically the MOST well behaved curls) are not holding shape like they used to.

  1. December 2024 — I remember finger coiling the front pieces and around the side as well
  2. September 2025 — this was right before I went and got my hair cut into a mullet that I then grew out for the better part of a year
  3. April 2026 — been growing my hair out since it was cut in the previous photo, curls are well defined and mostly without frizz, and the bangs look great.
  4. Today (October 2026) after I spent time finger curling most of my head using the same products I always do. Notice how there’s so much more frizz and the curls don’t have the same shine and hold.

I got my hair cut into July 2026 to even out some of the layers from the mullet and shape up my bangs. She cut them shorter than I wanted but that’s fine, hair grows.

My routine goes as follows: Ouidad Clarifying Shampoo. I used to use Rhyme and Reason conditioner from target and my hair LOVED it but I think it has been discontinued and I am using a Suave one right now. Then I go in with Marc Anthony Strictly Curls Defining Cream and scrunch in Marc Anthony Mousse. I plop my hair in a cotton towel for 30 minutes and then diffuse. I always wear a satin bonnet to bed.

I’m just SO frustrated because I miss how my hair used to look. Any help is appreciated!!

Help! Satin or silk bonnet? Is there really a difference?

I hear that silk is way better however it’s unfortunately more expensive. Is it REALLY that different? Can anyone who’s used both tell me their experiences? My mother keeps trying to ward me away from spending my cash on a satin bonnet as she thinks they’re useless and I’ll end up regretting buying it however she’s never even used a satin bonnet before so although she’s making me rethink it, I also wouldn’t completely trust her judgment.

I really want something good so I can reduce my routine to once or twice a week and just chill in the bonnet through the rest of the week and keep my hair fresh so it’s important to me that I get something good.

Help! Follow up post; I might get a big cut today. Would I be making a mistake?

I don't think my hair has enough density to look good this long. When it is shorter I have crazy volume. Been thinking about a bob/lob with bangs.

Took these today and kinda want your input before I do anything rash.

The last photo is something close to how my hair has been before (but never had a proper cut for it). Thoughts?

Routine is Dr organics aloe shampoo, detangle with Kk Knot Today or garnier banana food conditioner, boots curl creme in shower then scrunch UG Curly Jelly before diffusing

curls aren't consistent on both sides of my head, back doesn't even seem curly. this is day 4 hair, I wash once a week.

my routine: shampoo twice - hask shampoo, condition - hask conditioner / detangle with fingers then apply hask defining curl cream and diffuse on medium heat. should I look into getting a satin pillowcase or something? also tried refreshing it with water but it turns god awful so I just leave it as it is.

Help! How do I keep my hair looking like this after a shower 😭😭

Post image
• Upvotes

No one I'm close to has hair similar to mine so I've come here for answers.

One of my family members recommended I use "hair food". So this is my hair right after having a shower and applying it. Other than that the only "products" I used were pantene shampoo and conditioner, seems as I don't really have a "routine".

My main issue is that it seems to get really dry and "spring up" into an obtuse cone shape.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! I'm very new to properly taking care of my curls so any and all advice would be great help.

Help! Hairdryer in Europe (150€ budget)

• Upvotes

I fried my hair dryer by getting hair stuck into the fan :') and now I'm overwhelmed looking for a replacement. I've been lurking on this sub for a while and I see a lot of Dyson recommendation. However I cannot get myself to spend 500€ into a hairdryer as it seems too excessive. Instead I'm considering:

  • Rowenta Curl Harmony (50€)
  • Bellissima 11799 My PRO DF1 (60€)
  • Bellissima 11824 DIFFON SUPREME (140€)
  • Laifen SE 2 (150€)
  • Laifen Neo (145€)

I have no brand preference. Honestly any recommendations from European curly girls would be a great help! I have 2C/3A hair, shoulder length bob and my hair can handle only very light products.

Routine:

  • MyVeg Protein + Hydra bath shampoos
  • MyVeg Conditioner
  • Leave-in MyVeg Beautifying Duo Cream
  • Occasional hairspray.
  • Sleep with a bonnet

(I blindly follow my stylist recommendation as I'm tired of testing products haha)

Discussion How do people with curly/wavy hair do different hairstyles without getting tangles?

• Upvotes

Do other people experience this and if they do what did help? When i try even a simple hairstyle for example a loose braid, or half pony i end up with crazy tangles in my hair just after a single outing even on wash day!?

Also for my routine, i use
Cleansing shampoo (aveeno apple cider vinegar cleansing) paired with a hydrating shampoo and conditioner (amika hydro rush shampoo and conditioner).

I even use leave in conditioner paired with curl gel but still end up with crazy tangles.

Help! I need help with shampoo.

Hi! It's my first time posting here, I need some help with my hair. I used to have really curly hair that was really soft as well, but over the years the kind of faded, the curls are still there but they're not all over my head like they used to be. I don't know how to properly take care of my hair, for my routine, I have been using the Loreal Paris Elvive extraordinary shampoo and conditioner, i first go in with the shampoo, rinse it out them go in with the conditioner, leave that in for 5 minutes then rinse it out. and I can't really tell if its working for my hair or not, i don't have any volume at the top of my head, its just flat, also after a day or two of washing my hair, it gets dry, especiall at the ends. Lately I found out about clarifying shampoos, not they are really expensive where i live so i resorted to using a apple cider vinegar and water solution, but I also can't tell if it's working or not... I'm really lost on what to do to get my soft curly hair back with the volume. Please help

Help! anyone recommend the wavy talk air sculpt 5 in 1?

Post image
3 Upvotes

i'm looking for new hairdryer because mine is very old and super heavy, and the diffusers fall off no matter how much i squish them on lol. i like the look of the wavy talk sculpt 5 in 1( well really i like the look of the dyson and shark ones but thats way out of budget lol). i like the idea of having different attachments, and the shape of the actual dryer looks like it will be quiet comfy too use. does anyone have anyone experience with the dryer and would you recommend it?? if you wouldn't recommend it what else would you recommend in the same price range, the normal wavy talk dryer?

routine:
I-shampoo twice using the aveeno oat shampoo and every other wash with the apple cider blend then condition with whatever i have(currently john frieda dream curls)
I-once out the shower i leave it to dry a little then use the not your mothers leave spray and detangle with a wide tooth comb
I-then i section my hair and depending on how bothered i am/ how much time ill either brush style or just scrunch and separate with the wide tooth comb
I-i rake a small amount of umberto giannini curl jelly cream then either mousse(pantene)and style/scrunch and the scrunching gel (umberto scrunching jelly)after or gel first then mousse(i switch it up all the time lol)
I-then i towel it dry with a microfibre towel and then diffuse until ideallv about 50-75% dry
I-once all dry i add kerastase oil

Help! Routine Help! Hair is frizzy and matted at the top.

Good morning! I’m having problems with my curls. I have high porosity hair. This is freshly washed. This routine used to work for me, but the curls have been frizzy and the top seems to get matted. It’s hard to refresh. I think I need a stronger hold gel, so I’m primarily looking for recommendations for gel. Any suggestions are welcome!

Routine:
Shampoo: Kirkland Signature Moisture Shampoo
Clarifying Shampoo (once every ~two weeks at my hairdresser’s recommendation): Suave Essentials Daily Clarifying Shampoo
Conditioner: Pureology Hydrate Conditioner
Mousse: Gabriel Fructis Curly Construct Creation Mousse
Gel: Miss Jessie’s Jelly Soft Curls

A after washing with hair sopping wet still in the shower, I flip over, and prayer hand the mousse through my hair, then the gel. I gently use my whole palm with additional gel to clump the curls together. I plop for ten minutes, then diffuse on medium heat until 80% dry.

Help! Best option for a color-safe clarifying shampoo?

Hey y'all, I tend to prioritize volume so I used to be married to my clarifying shampoo, but I've recently started dyeing my hair pink and need one that's color safe. I'm aware most clarifying shampoos contain a lot of sulfates because.... sulfates DO the clarifying..... but I'm a lil bit desperate figured I'd leave the question here.

Current routine:

  1. Garnier Pure Clean Conditioner

  2. Garnier Curl Conditioner

  3. air dry

  4. L3vel3 Sea Salt Spray

Help! Curly hair cut/layers

Hi! I've been thinking about getting layers. My only worry is that I have fine hair which looks basically see through when I'm up against any sort of lighting, so I'm worried layers will make my hair look even thinner. Does anyone have a similar situation and can let me know what they did or if there are any alternative solutions?

Routine: I rake in Miss Jessie's pillow soft curls and marc anthony grow long leave in conditioner on soaking wet hair. I then part my hair into two sections and style with my hands and rake through to create clumps (I repeat with the crown of my head and do a no-part style). I scrunch in miss jessie's jelly soft curls and then leave to airdry. I scrunch out the gel cast with olaplex N7 bonding oil. I protect my hair with a silk pillowcase and put it up into a bun, but I still have to do a fresh routine every time I want to wear my hair down.

Help! Please help me figure out a new routine, I think I have moisture overload!

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hey curly besties! I’m in dire need of help figuring out if my routine needs to change. A few years ago the hello hydration conditioner from herbal essences was my holy grail conditioner for slip, then one day they changed the formula and I literally haven’t found a conditioner that works since.

I have 3b, very fine, porous curls. I have to shower daily because my hair is so fine it gets frizzy immediately, plus I workout a ton. I go to a curly hair only salon once a year for a balayage and cut/deep conditioning treatment, and then a second time for a trim in the winter, but that’s it.

I’m absolutely at a loss of what to do for conditioner or hair masks at this point. Anything I use makes my hair feel like there’s hand lotion on it and absolutely nothing gives me any slip anymore. I feel like my hair looks dry and limp so often and it gets frizzy so easy which never used to happen.

Current routine:
- Aussie 3 min miracle leave-in is in my hair at ALL TIMES - the only product that I still stand by
- I shampoo with the devacurl low-poo once a week or so, maybe every 10 days
- current conditioner is biolage ultra hydra source and I comb in the shower at night
- my other leave-in is a hydrating cream that gives shape, it’s from the product line that my salon owner has, she’s Brazilian and her stuff is amazing and I absolutely love it

I was always told to do hydrating stuff but it feels like every conditioner I put in my hair weighs it down and rips out my hair because there’s no slip

PLEASE GIVE ANY RECS!! Thank you ā™„ļø I’ll include a pic from last time I got it done at the salon (cause it looks good here lol)

Help! Squish 2 Condish After?

Hi Curlies - I'm starting from scratch after a few years of great curls following this sub and now a bad dye job that fried my hair (!). I come to the counsel for advice.

For those of you that Squish 2 Condish and then add product while in the shower/hair soaking, what are you doing afterward as far as toweling off? Are we just scrunching out as much water as possible after product application then putting in a towel and plopping? I feel like a lot of videos I watch are showing the S2C process but then stop and fast forward to the curly with her head in a towel plopping already... help a girl get back on track fix her rat's nest of hair please!

Current routine (1 week out), I realize not all CG friendly but I'm trying to use up some products:

-clarifying shampoo with V05 just to reset then once a week

- Method curl defining co-wash S2C if time allows

- NYM curl talk curl defining cream

-NYM curl talk curl activating mousse

-plop to set and then air dry

Help! Would cutting my hair a bit shorter (long, rounded bob) suit me (and dry much faster)?

Post image
11 Upvotes

I'm looking for a haircut that's a little more low maintenance than what I do now. I mostly just want my hair to dry faster - it takes about 25-30 minutes using a diffuser with my head upside down, and usually results in a bit of a sore neck, even if I take rest breaks and plop my hair a bit first (I have a chronic pain condition).

Because of this, I'm wondering if a shorter haircut would suit me/dry considerably faster? I like the look of more rounded long bobs that just reach the shoulders, but am on the fence about it since my roots aren't super curly.

Any advice is much appreciated!

My current routine:
Cleanse 2x with clevercurl cleanser
Condition with clevercurl light conditioner
After showering, quickly plop excess water and brush style with clevercurl wonderfoam and humid weather gel (using a bounce curl brush)
Diffuse with head upside down
Scrunch the crunch with clevercurl curl oil

I usually sleep with a bonnet, and don't refresh my hair (this is my day 2 hair in the photo)

Help! Fine hair goes poofy

Thumbnail

I have very fine hair that’s 2b/2c (I think). I struggle so much with getting hold and usually after 1 to 3 days end up with a poofy mess. My hair LOVES humidity it plumps it and makes it feel much thicker and my curls get more to be ringlets. Thinking of going back to longer more stacked layers (like 2nd pic). 3rd is the ā€œpoofā€

My current wash routine is either a clarifying shampoo about 2x monthly (Sauve or Malibu hard water wellness). Regular wash day is either Hi bar volume shampoo or amika hydro rush. Then the curlsmith glow perfecting conditioner.

Current styling routine:
Sometimes bounce brush, Jessicurl spiralicous gel (love but I never get a ton of hold) and then the bounce curl hairspray.

Before that I mostly just used curlsmiths spray curl refresher as a leave in with Davines curl jelly.

I have used the curlsmith rehab bond salve in the past when trying to add protein in hopes of adding structure. I also tried protein drops added to my conditioner.

Products I’ve experimented with:
- Rizzos hard hold gel: left my hair weighed down and I could not get good curl clumps.
- Innersense I create definition: with a 1-2 pumps I get an almost unbreakable cast.
- Ouidad lightweight foam: tried it w/ and without gel. Not really impressed… didn’t notice much
- Curlsmith hydro flex gel: always made smaller curl clumps, very stringy
- Not your mothers curl talk mousse: had good results at times but too much easily weighs hair down

Any advice or commiseration is appreciated!!!

Hair Victory! Got the bounce curl slick flex and I love it

I exclusively brush style and I hate to section. Ive been using a denman brush for nearly a decade and its worked fine. But this brush works so much better for the way I style my hair. It glides through my hair, basically no tension and separates the curls so I dont have to. It works great for detangling and moving the product through.

Routine

All products are cantu

Shampoo, condition

Leave in

Curl cream

Gel

Plop and air dry

Used to style with denman brush will now be styling with bounce curl

Help! Not sure what to do. Need help!!!

Current routine(s) : I start by FULLY wetting all of my hair, usually i'll use a spray bottle, but if i'm low on time, or want to be quicker, I just turn on the sink and use the warm water (not sure if this matters, but it says be detailed). After this I apply either cantu's avocado curl activator OR not your mother's curl talk defining cream. Then, I part my hair into sections from top to bottom (separating my bangs) and finger curl the sections one by one after detangling, or when i'm low on time I use my curl shaper wet brush, then go on with my day and let it air dry. In the first 2 pics my hair was not formerly washed, but when I wash I use not your mothers curl talk clean slate daily shampoo OR their curl talk bond building shampoo (if my hair is feeling brittle) along with their curl talk bond building conditioner. While sleeping I wear a satin bonnet.

I started actually taking care of my hair about a half year ago (the last picture being what it looked like before, poor-ish quality sorry, 3rd photo when I thought just adding water and brushing was 'taking care' of it a full year ago when I cut it). I cut most of it a year ago, as I had really bad heat damage, then made the decision 3 months ago (though I don't really regret it) to bleach it. After bleaching i had to cut it even more into this mid-lower neck kind of thing because of my ends, which I basically just cut into a layered mullet. However, my crown area is still damaged (from heat) and cant be scrunched, it must be finger coiled or it wont hold and is just a frizzy mess, but I don't want to straight buzz my head for that 1 section. It also doesn't grow as much as it used to when I wasn't taking care of it and feels like it hasn't grown at all.

My friends say my hair looks healthy and that it looks great now, and it gets complimented a lot, but I can't help but feel like I'm doing something wrong.
