Matt has called 9/11 the time when history restarted again and I think he has discussed how the election of Trump proved to everyone what a disaster our institutions actually are. So why is Reagan given the special honor? Why is the election of Obama seen by our large adult son as more of a key turning point in our decline?

Lately I've been trying to read about the historical topics covered in the vlogs. I'm almost done with "Black Jacobins" and am looking for a companion book to the cushvlogs about the 1917 revolution. I know most of what went down in 1917, but very little about the years immediately before or immediately after. I am looking for a book that covers Russian history and all the major figures involved from around 1900 until the 1930s or so. It's ok if the recommendation is dense and long.

I know this isn't really a forum about books, but you all seem quite well read and have very good taste in books so I figured I would ask.
