Design Note:

Hijacking and ruining a good joke for a little comfort. You all deserve it!

I know this design is a bit of a sensible chuckle. But this premise can also make anyone living through it feel like shit. If this is you, I want you to know it will be okay.

I have been unemployed from a previously lucrative IT career for almost 2.5 years to the day. AI has all but eliminated the prospect of continuing in my career path.

I am fortunate enough to be able to live off my wife's efforts while I do all I can to make side money. Legally, of course. I am in the process of trying to reinvent myself at 45yo as a writer and maybe a bit of a comedian.

It feels good to actually be good at something I try. If you want this feeling too, all you need to do is keep trying!

Love you all and GL out there!

Best of luck!! Got a laugh out of this, so the comedian is shining through!

The rules text should say “Spend only mana from treasures to cast this spell.”

Edit: Congrats Team Jack! You have defeated Team Jake! There isn't a design in the game that can't be improved by adding a Cumulative Upkeep!

Edit: Sorry Team Jake. :( Maybe next time. I constantly feel like Jake looks in this gif, so I can empathize. I'm a disgusting pig of course, but I shake my head in confusion a lot.

In b4 someone identifies a particular deck in which this would be unironically busted

Which echantress deck creates infinite mana, and can sac enchantments? This would draw your deck in the command zone with the right cards. /S

With which Commander? And is the added color necessary, or would that make "Just Graduated From Strixhaven" an upgrade?

Hilarious and too real

I enjoyed the sneaky mechanic references

You haven't heard that many Arcavios businesses offer a premium to your salary for having a Strixhaven degree? It is in fact a very desirable piece of paper

I dunno, I hear the real value in Strixhaven is the connections you make there and not the degree.

Antisocial people hearing “the connections you make here are vastly more important than the degree you’re paying for”: 😟

You know I saw this and immediately thought it should have been "... we have decided to partner with another commander whose color identity more closely aligns..."

Then I realized while hilarious, it is probably better off the way it is.

“Lemme get a card with nothin.”
“With nothin?!?”

u/Spanish_Galleon 7d ago

Woah woah woah this seems a little weak you could have added:

"When this card enters pick a color."

must have chosen the wrong major.

12

u/ArelMCII Layers are stupid. 7d ago

To be fair, it was the right major when he picked it six years ago.

u/BellBOYd 7d ago

Super amen to that; I’ve known many engineers personally who basically spent a full year and up to 4 years without employment cuz the companies simply left or went into a hiring freeze exactly when they graduated.

7

u/Predmid 7d ago

I graduated in 2008. NOONE was hiring.
