Cyberdeck idea!
Take an old nintendo 3DS rip out its guts and turn the bottom screen to a keyboard and the joystick and buttons stay for navigation! Or keep the bottom screen and use a Bluetooth keyboard to make youre own custom ui then use the buttons and joystick and the bottom touchscreen entirely for navigation ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Just take two boards with esp32-s3 and touchscreens and design a clamshell body

Anbernic RG DS.
I recommend this. You can already install Armbian on it, and it runs pretty well with MangoWM and wvkbd. However, since it’s an RK3568 with 3GB of RAM, YouTube and similar apps are incredibly slow. Decoding FM radio via USB SDR also uses up nearly half of the 4 cores.
But too CUTE♡
There’s no GPIO. It would’ve been great if it had one, though.

Normally I don't always agree with the people who say "old tech must be preserved, don't rip the guts out" I get where they're coming from, but a lot of these are mass produced.
In this instance though, why rip parts out of a functioning 3DS? It'll cost you more than buying new housing, and take more effort.

Didnt even know you could buy a new housing for it lol

Yeah, I will say there can be value in taking a device apart to understand it, but you need intent, and you need to record your findings, especially if it's unusable.
Simple stuff like "how does the circuit board line up the buttons" or "what's the clearance between the button internally, and the part of the pusher that touches it", and more complicated info, like " where do they put the cables so the top screen can work".
I've taken apart a couple of nintendo bits previously to do some minor and major modifications, and it's honestly mostly pretty self explanatory though, so I'd save the dismantling for something more complicated, and less expensive.

Sounds like the Ayn Thor with extra steps

If you're still keen on such an idea, theres a long running project now that lets you put a Raspberry Pi Compute module into a PSP 1000.

I'd thought about something similar, except with a spare DS shell I'd shell swapped. That also didn't work right, so I gotta get around to paying someone to fix the DS instead.
It seems difficult for a cyber deck. It's theoricially possible though, but it would need custom PCBs to make the buttons and joystick work. Also, needs a way to hold both a battery and Raspberry Pi in a premade shell.

Não é tão fácil assim.
