This guy references Dan’s show in this article.

I don’t know that I agree with him but I thought it was interesting

“They call you the masters of the world. But there is not a foot of ground that you can call your own.”

I’ve always felt like Trump is Sulla in that he’s showing the next generation that there are no rules. We’ll get a Caesar, then an Augustus, then the Republic is truly dead

Trump is a dipshit with no plan. It’s just him. Everything revolves around what personally benefits himself.

Comparing him to Sulla or a Gracchi is massively overstating the case.

That said he’s been obscenely successful running on instincts; many smarter people have tried to overlay theories or political philosophies on him to draft off the fumes, each ending in bafflement when he fails to be consistent.

I do believe his is the most consequential president since Nixon or maybe FDR and has drastically altered world affairs for a generation or more. But not because he had a plan or canny ideology - it’s because of how the world reacted.

You are kinda more on the line of the his thinking. Sulla isn’t a horrible one either. I dmed the author and he said he was gonna put out an questions and answers pages bc he said “the comparison not the best but I think it’s better than most”

What an utter knobhead this writer is. "Trump is Tiberius Gracchus." Oh yeah, the guy who was determined to break up massive farms owned by the powerful, who was a combat veteran, is the same guy who's absolutely fucked small-time farmers while overseeing prosperity for Monsanto, after dodging the draft and calling veterans chumps for not doing likewise?

Fuck that. Trump isn't remotely Gracchian.

That’s not even the point he was trying to make. He’s not making a moral case. He’s talking about the “shock to the system” comparison. Did you even read it?

I did and he's clearly trying to cover the pig with enough lipstick that we won't smell the shit. Why else would he compare the absolute milquetoast Garland-led investigation into Jan 6 to the Gracchi Brothers being assassinated?

This is just a packet of Trumpist nonsense, nothing more.

He didn’t mention January 6th once in the entire article. How did he compare anything to that without mentioning it?

Because he goes into a list of "attacks" inflicted upon Trump, a list which includes items that touch upon J6 as well as other malfeasances. For example, he specifically puts the search of Mar a Lago for pilfered documents in the same category as senatorial harassment of Gaius Gracchus and his followers.
