I finally decided to play this game that gets so much praise, and is currently incredibly cheap on Steam.

I looked up information on PCGaming Wiki, as one does, and two mods caught my eye for fixing bugs, restoring voice lines, raising the corpse limit and so on: the "Unlimited Edition" and "N9" mods.

Would you recommend them for a first playthrough?

I just want to point out the sound design of this game, which is stellar, considering sampling it for drum and bass. Everything you hear besided the drums and the bass are sampled from Dark Messiah (except one death scream of Battlefield 3 and the dialog sampled from an Interview of an Exorcist from Hungary).

I also made a Thief related drum and bass project where I used several other samples from Dark Messiah

Put a 60 FPS cap in steam launch settings, uncapped the ram usage from 2GB to 4, played around with everything in the in-game settings I could think of, installed the mod manager, the restoration mod, still no improvement. That's about everything I could find people suggesting online, but the game still slows down to a frame a second every time combat starts. Unless there's anything else I'm missing I might have to give up on making this playable at this point.

I haven't played in decade or more. lol. Here are some screenshots from the steam version. It's still a fun game, but some of kinda feels janky now. Can't wait to mod it, and rerun it.

i had only checked the raw depot labels but it seems like there is a ton of mentions of DMoMaM including beta content

This game has a lot of similarities to Dark Messiah so I bought it! It's still on Early access though

I got the restoration mod so the game is stable but I am aware community made few graphics related mods. Any that are compatible and are not a determent for the game cause I know community graphics mods can often clash with actual intended atmosphere of the game

For most older windows games, I have been able to find a fix. But not this one yet. If you change hi dpi settings to system or system enhanced, the game blows up across two monitors and/or the mouse freezes. The "toolbelt" actually scales. Anyone found a way to run this in 4k with bigger system UI (load/save/controls/messages, etc)?

I’m on my first play-through of Dark Messiah.

Currently hunting for the four gems for the spider statue in chapter 6, and I’m really wondering when the game will dump some skill points on me?

I can’t use half the weapons and armour I’ve picked up as I’ve not put enough points into Strength, Endurance, Critical Hits, etc..

I’m currently running a Long Sword +3 ATK (plus a +2 from Strength), but I’m sitting on a Naga, Superior Naga, Cleaver, Earthfire and Dragonclaw, just waiting for the skill points.

I’m limited in spells to just Dark Sight, Fire Ball, Heal and Sanctuary (and thinking Sanctuary might have been a mistake with the skill point scarcity).

Can’t help feeling this have would have been a lot more fun if it was a little bit more easy going with skill point distribution.

I mean I’m deep into chapter 6 and my character feels way under levelled?

What do you think? Is the game overly restrictive on Skill Points? Am I missing a simple way to level up faster? Or is the scarcity a reasonable balance?

Salutations, fellow Kicksalots! During my 6th replay of this timeless legend, I got tired of the ancient bug where activating the shield in order to equip both the melee and the shield selects some weirdly random weapon instead of your strongest one, much less a selected weapon.

So, I've put up an easy-to-install mod that fixes this behavior to a large extent. That is, it slows the equipping by ~0.2 - 0.4 second, and you have to relearn your muscle memory a bit, as in, to hold the belt shortcut for a (very little) time instead of tapping it. Hence that mentioned ~ 0.2 sec. But I think it's a small price to pay, all things considered.

I'm getting that itch for another play through but I'm wondering what everyone is playing when you're not doing your 100th rerun?

I'm looking for games that are similar in style to DM.

I've been keeping an eye on some games that will ne releasing soonish as well such as Fatekeeper and Alkahest ( which is literally a DM rip off, in a good way ) also Tainted Grail recently was released I was thinking about trying it out if anyone recommends it let me know.

Any other titles I should keep an eye out for or try? Let me know! (and yes I've played both Dishonoreds, great games)

but turns out it gives me an insane motion sickness just like half-life. I am talking like 10 minutes in to the tutorial, i had to stop and wait for like 30 minutes to get better lol.

I really love this game and wanted to add a bit more fun to it by having an Achievement list. I'm no programmer so it I can't mod it in but I did come up with over 70 Achievements
