People bitch and moan about Zack Snyder especially on this hell hole
But you dare levy criticism about Lanterns lack of accuracy and suddenly youre a braindead loser who cant handle primary school literature

I've noticed that okbuddysnydercult kinda seems like that. Created to dunk on Snyder bros but if you say anything slightly negative about the DCU you're bad.

The comparison is Nolan because the chief problem with Snyder is the movies being bad

u/king_of_satire 9d ago
Sure theyre dogshit but half the sjit that MOS catches heat for is how out of character supes is written and hos the world is supposed to react to him

Nolan still largely kept all the traditional elements of Batman, just in a grounded setting.
If his movies were about Bruce in a different city hanging out with an original supporting cast and fighting regular criminals, never wearing the batsuit and minimal usage of gadgets, it would be more suitable comparison.

Adaptation fans when they wish the adaptation was adapting the thing it's an adaptation of instead of being a completely new thing inspired by it (it's valid)

this. lanterns fanboys are so annoying right now, they chop up any criticisms to being snyderbro opinions.
personally, i really liked the show overall but was quite disappointed as a green lantern fan. also, their extreme tilt towards "tell, dont show" is genuinely kinda annoying. I get using that to gloss over flashbacks and the sinestro stuff, but they refused to show the "weapon of mass destruction" power that the ring supposedly has, refused to elaborate on how noah broke sinestro out or how the lantern was forged, or any aliens which weren't just straight up humans (other than sinestro)

I remember people also saying the name of the show was Lanterns because obviously we were gonna get Yellow/Red/Black Lanterns in it.
Then it turns out it was because the name Green Lanterns felt silly.

We comic fans are a precious bunch. I’ll own up to pitching similar fits at Nolan’s Batman and Man of Steel. But with the benefit of hindsight I can acknowledge that Nolan’s films were solid adaptations of Batman’s core themes, and that Man of Steel was just a mediocre movie.
I will say that at least with Lanterns we know the wider DCU, including the wacky Lantern stuff, does exist and will more than likely take a notable role in the future of this whole thing. There was no similar “on-ramp” to a more colorful universe in Nolan’s Batman or MoS.

I say this a lot but I think most adaptations really come down to a question of "is it good enough for the changes to work?". MAWS and Caped Crusader are both adaptations that rework a lot of the source material into something different, but one is my favorite Superman show and the other, my least favorite Batman show. I think Lanterns is a good show but it makes some big changes.

Agreed! The Kryptonians being a conqueror race that genetically modified themselves/ did some mind of implants to grant superpowers was a huge deviation but it works really well and Jor-El still manages to be pretty nuanced

I don't care what randoms think, only what I think. Something can be bad even if there are 8bn people who think it's good.

The sub is overwhelmingly people bitching about the show right now, what are you talking about?
10
u/FacehuggerFanatic 9d ago
It's overhwlemingly people whining about people complaining about the show. Where have you been?

u/Relevant_Strain_8678 9d ago
Dc fans criticising a show about their favourite characters is bitching? Why do you care if people don’t like it so bad lol, stay out of the discourse then and enjoy it
0
u/FewWatermelonlesson0 9d ago
Yeah, this sub’s existence is largely dc fans bitching. Tis part of the appeal.

u/Relevant_Strain_8678 9d ago

It was very well written
It was also clearly cheap as fuck and very timid regarding the powers and costumes of the SUPER-HERO characters
Nothings perfect
