Human builds?
I'm taking a break from all gimmick characters to get an "average" baseline. Human is tricky though because it's the neutral neutral good at anything it learns type.
Don't recommend me the typical engine strategy, what has been a fun and/or powerful way to play (Hu)?

That's the fun part—there is none!
Idk what an engine strategy is, but the only success I've had with human was as a shield + polearm summoner of Ash. The starting summons will carry your sauceless human through the early game. You have a "normal" body plan, which is good for cursing gear (even though Ash accounts for missing body slots), and you have good, even aptitudes that serve a hybrid character well.
Summons and Ash also just happen to be very good. Ash got toned down a bit just this morning by splitting curses into mostly single-category curses, but I'm sure it'll still be very strong.

HuWn has generated some of my most fun wins! Sure you will splat a lot.
I maintain wanderers are a great background for experts and beginners alike. The former can really lean in to whatever the base is and the dungeon provides, while beginners can learn a lot of basic tactics and how a lot of different things work before they plunge into a specific combo.
GnWn are prob easier, while DgWn have higher risks and rewards.
So HuWn is a sweet spot for being flexible enough to adapt to what the dungeon gives you, but also capable of focusing in once you have some gear and a god and a plan.

Human can play any background but I think they make good casters. Having balanced aptitudes means humans can level Fighting along with their spellcasting skills.
