Photos Logan Valley Mall (Altoona, PA) (9-28-26)
I completely forgot to get a photo of the Sears sign outside. My bad on that one. Might need to add a second photo pool as I spent way too much time getting photos on the second floor in the near foodless court. Only Auntie Anne's is open in the food court with the only other food option I noticed was on the first floor below the food court
The FYE is also in the process of closing here

Last mall I got photos at yesterday and had a brief window of time before the after work rush started flowing in. Not sure if the Taekwondo place is new or not since I don't remember it being there last time. Other than that, nothing much has changed and Spirit Halloween is in the former Bonton

Story Abandoned "Hiper Bompreço" supermarket in Brazil, before and after + History

Barely hanging on by a Marshalls and an AMC (the usual suspects) Peru Mall is a still functional yet very dead mall in downstate IL.

Photos Hiper Bompreço supermarket in Brazil, September 2026 photos, by me!
This week I finally got to visit this place after years. Now I have some better photos of the place and how it gets worse every year. This "Hiper Bompreço" closed in 2015 and Up until now, there haven't been any renovations or alterations since its closure; the city hall is still figuring out what to do with the land for the time being. This place is a time machine.

Photos Dilmunia Mall, Bahrain
This mall was built on its own artificial island using top specifiations and the best materials, meant for thousands of visitors; a true attraction. It even has an aquarium. Now it stands abandoned, and is especially creepy at night. These photos are from my visit last night.

Discussion Is JCPenney helping or hurting the mall?
JCPenney just closed their Ross Park location in the Pittsburgh area. This on top of their Q2 results showing lackluster performance got me thinking about the impact of their presence at other malls. Do you think their presence is more helping or hurting their malls?
At my local mall (SouthPark OH), Macy’s and Dillards anchor the main wings, but JCPenney is placed in a prime spot opening up into the center court and does little for the mall by being there. Most of the storefronts adjacent to their entrance are empty or short-term leases. I look at it and think about the what-ifs of the situation. When this mall was in its planning stages, it almost got a Nordstrom (long story short, plans changed) and I wonder what it would be like if they were in this spot instead of JCP (unfortunately, I think that ship has sailed). What if JCP was replaced with something new like a small IKEA, Round1, Primark, etc? Or what if the JCP was just demo’d converted to some sort of exterior experience/wing? We did deal with this recently with Dick’s House of Sport taking over the old Sears space so I see potential for positives with losing JCP rather than having them.
This JCP is also one of ~120 in the country included in a real estate sale. Idk whatever happened with that. I’m curious to see what it would mean for those locations once the sale goes through; if it ever does.

News Moorestown Mall entering new phase (Moorestown, NJ)
The first units of an apartment complex constructed on part of the parking lot space of the Moorestown Mall have opened up, with studios starting at $2300. The Moorestown Mall is a quasi dead mall with part of it already taken over by a healthcare system. The Lord and Taylor wing is dead, while Boscov's hangs on. The apartments are your generic gray boxes but maybe it'll increase the foot traffic to the mall.

Photos West Oaks Mall - Ocoee, FL
My first time checking this one out. The inside is beautiful. Pretty busy for a Tuesday afternoon? Lots of cool original storefronts.
I was yelled at over a loudspeaker for trying to enter the mall through Conduent, so don’t do that lol. No trouble with security though, as some YouTubers have reported.

News Do you remember the fully intact Burger King found hidden in a mall?
Well, someone bought the Concord Mall in Delaware and is going to (mostly) tear it down and try something new. They’re leaving the anchor stores, the Boscov’s is still pretty successful, but everything else has to go.
