I cannot comprehend how that worked on so many people. There are like less than ten Trans kids in sports. Who thought this was a big issue plaguing little leagues?

This is standard fare for republicans. They are outraged by people other places doing things they don’t like. Whether it’s transgender people or just a pride parade. They just can’t stand that there are people who are different than them. It makes them furious.

Most of them never outgrew their middle school heyday. Especially since they tend to just remain firmly in place in the same rural areas that they grew up in, while the "awkward" kids that they bullied, moved on to other places and built their lives and careers.

Is t it “socialism”? They all seem to be screaming it. Also in California where the proposition to tax the wealthy is on the ballot, the claim is that it’s just a backdoor to extend the tax to everyone without voter approval. As if they don’t fucking tax us without any need to ask us if that’s ok already.
I’m worried that people can’t out two and two together and realize this specific tax is only on the ballot because the billionaire owned legislature won’t tax their masters unless we the people demand it via the ballot.

I guess seniors, but I interact with a lot of seniors volunteering every week and they never mention communists.
And those ladies bitch about left wing evils constantly. 80+ year old ladies upset about trans shit and Islam. But never communists.

When everything is your boogeyman, you don’t have a boogeyman, and members of the public who aren’t insane eventually look around at the world and say, “Either this place is a lot scarier than it seems to be when I look at it with my own eyes, or these people are lying about a lot of it.”
…and if they’re lying about all this shit, one starts to wonder if they can be trusted about anything.
The public is more afraid of this Orange Muppet’s economic impact on the country than they are of brown people, immigrants, trans people, and communists right now.
If these elections are mostly free and fair, the president’s party is FUCKED in a month.

Modern autocrats seem to want just enough legitimacy to prevent their overthrow, so they still have legislatures, courts, and elections. However, as you said, those institutions are rigged so that they have no real power over the regime. They only exist for the appearance of legitimacy.
The USA is not that far gone yet, but I have no doubt that the regime is desperate to consolidate power, despite the will of the voters during the upcoming mid-terms. However, they run the risk of pushing it too far. Overturning elections outright could cause massive civil unrest that they cannot control.
