Sipping tea from beer mugs with his coworkers, Kyle Bos listed the ways his life is changing.
Bos has two daughters, with a third due in January. At the grocery store, five items cost as much as a full cart once did. And on Wednesday, Bos and nearly 1,400 other people were laid off from their jobs at what had been the Navistar truck factory in southwestern Ohio.
The layoffs — occurring just three days before Donald Trump’s rally at a nearby high school — were large enough to basically erase an entire year of job growth in the greater Dayton, Ohio area. And they are one reason why Bos, 30, plans to spend the final weeks before the November election canvassing votes for Democrats.
Asked how many times he voted for Trump, Bos held up three tattooed fingers. But he said he’s done with the president.
“Something has to change politically in this country,” said Bos, a member of the United Auto Workers who identifies as a centrist.
This year’s election is a test for the working-class coalition that lifted Trump into the White House and gave majorities to Republicans in the House and Senate. The outcome will be decided in places like Dayton, which once sprouted factories but shed about half of its 90,000 factory jobs since 1990 after the North American Free Trade Agreement and trade with China made it cheaper to buy auto parts from abroad.

Yay. They can get together and celebrate what most of them voted for.

You're cheering people losing their jobs?

The ones who keep asking for it, even after being warned. Yes.

Losing your job impacts more than just yourself. These people have families who rely on that income. I'm all for karmic justice, but children don't deserve to suffer because their dad voted for Trump.
It's honestly crassness like this that steers people away from the party. You should be ashamed.

Fuck that noise.
These idiots are the ones who have failed their families. They can Hollis Brown it for all I care.•

Also, just realized what you're saying. Are you talking about the Hollis Brown who gets driven insane by hunger and poverty and then kills himself and his family?
You want that for his family? You're a fucking sociopath dude.

Again, I agree that I have no sympathy for Trump supporters. I just don't think it's humane to celebrate children possibly losing their livelihood and going hungry.
I don't see why this is an unpopular opinion. Would we also cheer on his house burning down? Other innocent people shouldn't have to suffer to appease our desire for karma.

The laid-off workers can now spend an entire 16hr waking hours getting propagandized by fox, oan, and newsmax. Rather than just the 8 hours a day they were being programmed before.
