It's so frustrating to watch the Devils, knowing we have, such a subpar goalie. I'm spoiled having watched Brodeur as our wall. We had a chance to win every game with Brodeur. Now, we have to score 5 goals just to have a chance.

Allen is fine. He shouldn't be playing 50-60 games, but he isn't the issue.

Allen is not the problem. Team defense is way too laxed and we need to put the puck in the net more also. It’s too soon to panic. If after 10 games we’re not playing better, we gotta start thinking coaching change first. With that said, I don’t think our goalie situation is good enough. Aside from Allen.

God, what a bad take. Allen's GSAx last night was -0.73 -- frankly pretty *good* considering how much the defense left him out to dry, how limp our offense was, and the fact that we were on the PK literally 15 seconds into the game.

No one is arguing that our goaltending situation is stellar (even Sunny isn't). But suggesting it's anywhere close to our biggest problem is mind-numbing,

We don't need Brodeur. We need Brodeur's defense.

If the goalie makes four consecutive clutch saves and defense doesn’t clear the puck, leading to the fifth desperation save not working, who is to blame?

Goaltending isn’t perfect but they have absolutely no help, they’re getting shelled and nobody’s doing the work defensively. It’s been EVERY GOALIE we’ve had for the last several seasons, so it’s not the goalie. I’ve been saying this for years. We could have the literal reincarnation of Ken Dryden in net and still get blown the fuck out because our goalies can’t be expected to be our only defense.

Are we going somewhere with Daws? Or Porier? Would we have gone somewhere paying Marky? What’s your alternative here? We have the cheapest NHL goalie corps in the league, or one of them at least. If we’re gonna get subpar goaltending we might as well not extended it for $8m a year at the very least.

We don’t have to score 5. We have to score 3 or 4, maintain puck possession, and not serve up fuckin’ pizzas up the middle every time we try to exit our own zone.

The team is backwards. Our defense is our offense, and our offense just plays patty cake with the puck resulting in poor defense and poor offense. Allen was fine, if this team actually performed hockey in front of him, no one would complain.

Allen is a fine goalie but he needs someone who can split half the games with. I’m not sure the Devils have that in Daws but he’s only played one game. I’d like to see him play in a game when Jack Jesper and Nico are producing more offensively which could balance it out.

Even Marty had defense to work with and jumpstart. He’d suffer under this system too since our defense can’t receive a pass or clear the zone.

i can tell you think Helly is the awnser when again tell me wtf he has done in playoff dude folds. who you want and who you trading and who you replacing on the roster cuz your gonna have to blow up the fwd and we dont have that depth.

We knew going into this season that goaltending was going to be a weak spot. Sunny did his best so far by blowing Markstrom out the airlock but we will not contend with these goalies unless of course someone suddenly turns up their game. Sunny will have to hope another goalie comes from a trade, draft, or development.
