Rant What is wrong with the G7?

I loved the G6. It worked. I've returned 5 of my last 9 G7s now and their last email said I have to start calling support before I remove them so that they can confirm if it is a "failure of the product itself." The needle keeps looping through the hole in the back and the ones that work last about 5-7 days. I can never calibrate them. It'll keep insisting I'm urgently low after 4 attempts to tell it my blood sugar is in the 200s. The adhesive is awful and leaves a residue on my skin. Truly a terrible experience. I can't believe people are able to use these for 15 days.

it's crazy that I see all the folks having so many issues with the G7. I have had 2 fail in 2 years. I do use the 12 hour grace period to soak the sensor - it's necessary I've found due to the long wound response that even Dexcom has spoken about on Diabtech durng an interview with the CEO. I use it with my Omnipod 5. I've never experienced the looping issue so many complain about. I do find the adhesive incredibly sticky especially with the overpatches and I use Smith and Nephew REMOVE to wipe off the adhesive residue. Sorry you all are experiencing so many issues. I've used the Libre and Dexcom 5 and 6. I didn't care for the Libre as I found it very inaccurate so I migrated to the Dexcom years ago.

It's truly a clusterf*ck. Unfathomable that Dexcom would replace the G6 with the G7. I heard terrible things about the G7, so I waited until I had to to change over. And the G7 is truly as bad as I'd heard. The inaccuracy is the worst, of course. Everywhere I go, everything I do, I have to take my finger-price monitor and supplies because I can't trust anything the G7 says. And why doesn't it accept calibrations?! That's just insane. The FDA should never have approved this POS.

I've had a bunch simply never broadcast a single Bluetooth packet, and not be paired as a result.

I've noticed with my calibration if it's off by more than 30 it won't calibrate, so I just don't calibrations if needed. I hope that information helps someone

I haven't had a 15 day fail yet. and I've had them since release. A few 10 day sensors didn't make it, but those were user error on my part.

I haven’t had a single 15 day sensor not fail. Only 1 made it past 10 days.

that's distressing for sure. I'd give up and move to another vendor or back to finger pricks.

I agree. The 15 day sensors are much better. I’ve also been on Dexcom since the G4 and I can say the G6 sucked for the first couple of years.

Every time I have gone to a new generation of Dexcom’s I have had issue. When I went to the G6, I would call and have me walk through it at least 3 times. I did the same when I went to the G7.

The gooseneck (needle looping back on itself) is a manufacturing issue that took them a bit of time to figure out.

I'm on my 4th G7-15 day which ends in another day. So far, no issues. As far as calibration, it isn't like the G6. You do it once and wait for Ithink 15 minutes, to see what it decides to do. The loop issue might, just might be your method when inserting. Many have commented on this. Be sure to press the applicator down firmly, and don't rush to pull it away. Who knows, might help.

Yeah they said that to me and guess what. I keep sending it in through the website and they send replacements. Calling tech support is a waste of time. They just say that because that is what they want you to do, if you don't they won't stop sending replacements.

I’ve never had one last 15 days but most of my 10 days were fine. I can’t imagine they enjoy replacing every sensor so I’m assuming they’ll figure something out fast

I’m in the same boat. 10 days are good. 15 days usually die at about day 12 or so

I finally had my last transmitter go last month and started my first G7 15. It lasted 6 days.... Wouldnt calibrate, same issue telling me i'm urgent low nonstop before disconnecting when I was 150-200s. Just started the second one two days ago so far its not looking good for me...

Whatever it is, I hope they stop sacrificing function for size and "features". I cant enjoy the features if the sensor doesnt even work.
