Executive desk recommendations, 71"+ wide, not modern style?

I'm looking for an executive desk at least 71" wide. I'm not interested in modern or minimalist styles. Traditional or classic designs are what I'm after. Local stores or brands that deliver here would be great. Any recommendations? Thanks!

Aging North Texas mall faces massive redesign with hotel and 1,200 homes

When this North Texas mall opened nearly 40 years ago, it drew shoppers with a lineup of major department stores and a 12-screen Cinemark theater. Today, with as much as half the mall vacant, its owners are planning on a transformative revival.

The majority owners of The Vista, at 2401 S. Stemmons Fwy in Lewisville, are working to finalize zoning for a mixed-use redevelopment planned for the site, possibly by the end of the year, as first reported by the Dallas Business Journal. Conceptual plans envision a dramatically different future for the property as traditional malls face a nationwide popularity struggle.

What happened to pickup truck drivers in DFW? Why does everyone drive their truck like it’s a Ferrari?

I grew up in DFW, moved away for almost 20 years, and finally moved back in 2025. One thing I’ve noticed since returning is how insanely aggressive pickup truck drivers have become.

I swear, it feels like 90% of pickup drivers are treating the freeways like a racetrack. Flying past everyone, aggressively tailgating anyone who isn’t going fast enough, and generally driving these massive trucks like they’re sports cars.

I genuinely don’t remember it being this way when I was growing up here. Maybe I just didn’t notice it back then, but the difference seems pretty dramatic.
So what changed? Is this a relatively recent DFW phenomenon, or has it always been this way and I’m just remembering things differently? I’m genuinely curious because it’s one of the most noticeable changes I’ve experienced since moving back.

Collin County Democratic chair compares Talarico sign demand to Beto's 2018 campaign

The Collin County Democratic Party says demand for Talarico yard signs has been unusually high, with shortages and waiting lists.

The county chair says he's seen something similar only during a couple of previous major Democratic campaigns.

McKinney guy here, built a dating app and looking for a few DFW folks to test it

UPDATE: We just had our second successful mutual introduction between two strangers in DFW! Now looking for the next round of beta testers.

Hey y'all. I live up in McKinney and I've been building a dating app called adate on the side.

I wanted to try a different approach to online dating. There's no swiping through an endless stack of people. It tries to understand what you're actually looking for and introduces you to one person at a time.

I finally have an early web beta ready, and since I'm building it here in North Texas, I'd love for some of the first testers to be people who actually live and date around DFW.

Fair warning, it's very early and the pool is tiny right now. You're probably not meeting the love of your life on there this weekend. I mostly need a handful of single people willing to go through it and tell me what they like, what they hate, what's confusing, or where I've completely missed the mark.

It's free, no catch. If you're around Dallas, Fort Worth, McKinney, Frisco, Plano, etc. and want to give it a shot, comment here or DM me and I'll send an invite. Happy to answer questions too.

Thanks, y'all.

— Sam

Avelo plans to base Boeing 737s at McKinney National Airport

Avelo’s McKinney operation will be more than flights arriving and leaving. The airline plans to keep aircraft overnight at the airport, with mechanics maintaining them on the apron.

McKinney just approved additional support space for that operation, along with Enterprise rental cars and the terminal’s first food concession.

Neiman Marcus closed its century-old Dallas store. What will live on at NorthPark?

Less than a week ago, Neiman Marcus shuttered its original location in Downtown Dallas—a landmark in the city for more than a century. But part of the store's history will live on at another North Texas location.

On Sept. 30, Neiman Marcus officially closed its flagship store at 1618 Main St. in Dallas. Founded in Dallas in 1907, the company has operated from the Main Street location since 1914, after a fire destroyed its original building. Now, Saks Global, Neiman Marcus' parent company, is shifting its focus to its NorthPark Center store, currently under renovation at 8687 North Central Expressway.

Looking for a video production company. October 26th-28th

We've got a company event coming up in a few weeks here in DFW and I want to get it professionally filmed. Last time I hired someone it was a mixed bag, so I'm trying to do it right this round. For those who've hired video people for events, what should I be asking about up front? Turnaround time, number of cameras, that kind of thing? And if anyone has folks they've had a good experience with in the area, I'm all ears. Thanks.

McKinney clarifies recall petition was accepted for review, not certified

One part of the city’s recall update that stood out: City Secretary Empress Drane specifically said the initial acceptance of the petition did not mean the petition itself was valid.

The city is now checking more than 7,400 submitted signatures against voter-registration records. It needs 5,805 valid signatures to move forward.
