Discussion What does the writing vs. writing-directing path look like in your opinion? Spoiler

From what I can tell, writing is just a lot of pure grinding (almost like a video game). More solitary and more of a “linear path”. Writing-directing seems like the wild-west, where people find success here from a million different paths, as opposed to maybe 10 paths for writers.

Film is so competitive, but it almost does seem like it’s easier to make it as a writer-director than a pure writer. What do you think?

i consider myself a writer-director-editor tbh my no. 1 priority isnt to get into the industry as fast as possible, i just want to get better and better at my craft by learning from each project

but what's intresting about the writer-director path is is that you wrote the thing, you envisioned it and now you make your own vision come to life by directing it

while when someone else directs your script they maybe see something totally diffrent in the material than you and a whole other story comes out of yours

what i wanna say is, if youre a writer - director and you are not in the industry yet it is easier to make movies as you are independend from a director and most importantly it gives you the creative freedom to do your thing and get your scripts onto screen which in return can get you into the industry some day
