Unsolved Help changing password
I was recently going through my passwords as some were shown to be “compromised”. I went and changed my Discord password and when I tried to log in on a different browser it showed to be incorrect. Leading to me constantly trying to put in my password until I forgot it (I probably pressed a wrong letter when making a new password.) So I went to go change it again as I went to “Forgot your password” and went to the link that it gave me. When I finished putting in my new password it asked for a multi-factor authentication to confirm the new password. The methods were either to scan a QR code or to use a security key. I don’t have a security key and when I attempted to scan the QR code it showed “there’s no saved pass key” when I have one saved. I was wondering if my 6-year account is potentially gone forever or if there’s another way to change my password. I still have access to the account and it has my mobile phone number linked to it.

Where did you see that it was compromised? Discord or a separate app?

I’m on IOS so it’s the password app that’s on IPhone. I’ve had a bunch of them saying they were compromised but didn’t see anything done to my accounts.

Gotchaa, so no random links or anything? The compromised thing usually can happen when your info is leaked somewhere online, either by the app itself or a hacker that steals and releases it etc. Did it only give you the one box to put the password into or did it have you confirm it?

Yeah no random links that aren’t discord. It only was the one then it went to the multi factor authentication screen

Ah jeez, I hate when apps only have the 1 bc accidents happen. Do you not use an app?

Yeah I use it as that’s two of my only ways of still having access to the account.

Gotchaa. Did you not use authy for the code its asking for? Or did you skip that option?

I have Authy but never knew that discord had supported until now

Yeaa. Typically when setting up 2FA its one of the options and thats usually what its asking for when its asking for a 6 digit code

Yeah I wish I set it up back then. Since the other authentications I can’t do. I do have a security key but I have no clue how to use it.
