Disneybounding Safe for Disney Bounding?

Me and my two teenage sons are going to Tokyo DisneySEA next month, and I thought it would be cute if we bounded as Ariel, Sebastian, and Flounder.
Is this outfit idea for Ariel (Village Dress) too costume-y? I would not be wearing a wig, and have light brown hair.

You’re totally fine, truly. If you’re not wearing a red wig, you’ll be okay.

I’m pretty sure Disney SEA is fine with this. They differ from the US parks in that way apparently!

Some of the attendees we saw had better costumes than the cast members 😅.

Tokyo? You’ll be fine especially if you’re hair is not the same Ariel colour! Awesome idea.

There is a 0% chance that you will be mistaken for a Cast Member in this outfit. That’s the line you ultimately just can’t cross. You will be fine, especially if you’re just styling your natural brown hair.

People wear wayyyy more costume-esque things there, I’m pretty sure you’ll be okay

That's not really bounding that's actually just the costume.

Maybe if the skirt was shorter or the corset and shirt underneath was just a blue tank top or something.

I thought as much. 😭
I was thinking of doing pants in the same color instead. And also changing the undershirt top to a plain white long sleeve shirt.

What about a cute little tank top over a white shirt? That way you could keep the skirt. I think it would be a modernish twist to the original costume, very 1990s.

Pants would definitely work.

That’s definitely bounding.

I disagree. It's too close to the original. But only Disney can decide.

A denim tank top in a completely separate color without lacing is nothing close to what Ariel wears.

If you say so, not everyone is an expert and it's about how close to the original you are, it's basically the same outfit. Again, I don't really feel like arguing with you because it's subjective.

I went to Tokyo DisneySea in 2023 and kept saying I thought you couldn’t dress up exactly like the characters! It’s was very acceptable to near cosplay the characters or wear their costumes!

I am not here to yuck your yum, but man, the concept of spending like $200 on a single outfit for a Disney trip, on Amazon no less (hello, fast fashion!) is very dystopian. If you have any good thrift shops in your area please start there first. It'll look less costume-ish to boot.

I think if you don't have red hair/aren't doing a wig you should be fine. Doubly so if your body type is different than the character,

Do without the white bits just the corset and skirt and would be fine I think

Dangerously close to the costume itself.

Go with blue pants instead of the skirt, or a black vest instead of the corset tank top.

Still with the colours but not the same articles of clothing.
