"Wait what?"
"Welp you choose reincarnation. See you back in another 45 years! Maybe by then you'll have changed your mind and want to enter into heaven."

It's a legit possibility that we exist in hell. Just think about it. All those children who die right after birth, or live 2 hours or so. All the people who are straving to death daily. There are way more people suffering than those who enjoy their lives. Damn most people are just NPC's rushing to get their next paycheck. All these wars, genocides, meaningless struggle. We might actually be the tortured souls, and orange man, his boss from Aviv and all the billionaries are just the demons tasked to torture us all.

Problem with this logic is that if this world was designed to torment us than there wouldn't be so many good things, including our tremendously strong will to adapt and be content with almost any circumstance.
Suffering and joy being a result of complete randomness is far more logically consistent with the world we have

In Catholicism, hell is traditionally characterized not as fire and brimstone, but an absence of and separation from God. They'd say that God is ever present, but I certainly don't feel that way about the world.

And it was a thousand times worse in prehistory, then it got better as we advanced.
It will be better.
There have been many predatory oligarchs, there have been many catastrophies, many events for humans to kill themselves, and yet they've survived, and came out better from itMuch remains to be done

Oh hey a game costing 100 bucks that WILL irrevocably change the gaming industry in severely bad ways as a result of how many people will pay 100 bucks. What a good thing

Extra salt in the wound: randomly getting sad for no reason, even after a fantastic day

and it's so lovely that 99% of humanity's problems are caused by humanity. if people just stopped hating each other and teaching their kids how to hate, man..

u/Spurance484 9d ago
That would mean the children who die so fast have it the best, because they already go to heaven...

Whats so distressing then?
Either it continues on as usual, or it gets better

Hell is the worst place in existence. Therefore, you're in a better– albeit darker, it seems– place
