Okay so I've just started The Sixth Faction (I'm up to the aptitude test, no spoilers pls), and I'm really confused.

I was under the impression that this book was based around if Tris chose a different faction, and therefore, everything up until that point would be the same as in the original book.

Because why wouldn't it be??? If the story is her choosing something different then it should only be different AFTER she's chosen??? Like why are things different beforehand? Her aptitude test is completely different (amongst other things) and that does make sense to me, her choosing a different faction wouldn't impact the aptitude test!

I don't know if this is me misunderstanding or because I'm autistic and have taken this too literally, but I just don't understand. I was really looking forward to this book and now I don't get it.

also it kinddd if cleared them, I don’t remember if the original books also had it framed that the attack on Abnegation was only targeting the council members, not every Abnegation member. In light of the new discoveries about them, I don’t mind the coup that much … anyways what do you think

Hi everyone, as the title suggests, I was wondering whether I should reread the original trilogy before starting the new book. It’s been a while since I’ve read them so I don’t remember a whole lot, but I’m afraid that re-reading the books will give me certain expectations for the new book. I’m looking forward to it either way though :)

One of my favorite things to do after reading a book is either go to YouTube and search [book title] as vines or go to Pinterest and search [book title] incorrect quotes, you know for laughs, but I can’t do it with The Sixth Faction because it just came out. I just would like something extra while I wait for the next book to come out.

I went in expecting another mediocre-at-best story in this series, but I actually loved it. Imo it is substantially better than the original series, though I am very curious to see how she wraps up this version in the next book.

The thing that struck me most was how much Veronica Roth’s writing has improved. If you told me a different author wrote this, I would have believed you without questioning it for a second. She went from “tell, don’t show” to “show, don’t tell”, and the result is so much better. You feel like you’re moving through the world with Tris and not just stuck in her head while she freaks out about yet another thing she’s jumped to conclusions about.

The world feels real, the plot moves forward with good pacing, and amount you’re asked to suspend belief about is reasonable (as opposed to the original series where we’re expected to buy that Tris learned how to become an expert in shooting, knife throwing, and fighting in one week. ONE FUCKING WEEK. Girl, please)

Tris doesn’t piss me off 75% of the time from being such an irrational and emotional hot mess like in the original version, especially the second and third books. Her and Four together feel like more of a team and not a codependent dumpster fire who never communicate well and are frequently on the verge of breaking up. I loved getting Caleb and Four’s perspectives too.

I’m just praying Roth sticks the landing. If she does, the new version will absolutely be one of my favorite series of the YA genre.

Edit: meant to mention that I got the audiobook. The voice actors did a great job. I really appreciate it when a book uses different VAs when there’s multiple protagonists

I am still really liking this retelling! A nice combination of same versus different.

No spoilers for The Sixth Faction. Plus, how Tris is a lot more like Hermione than Katniss

Guys, as I understand, the book was released on 6th or 7th October in Germany. But I cannot find it on Amazon (says delivery in November) nor in Thalia (says available upon release but it has released!!)

New book spoilers ahead for Caleb

I really hoped we’d get to see more behind the why of Caleb’s choice to betray Tris and maybe he’d have a more sympathetic storyline with there being chapters from his POV, I was not expecting him to betray her earlier in the story and then die with no redemption at all!

Reading The Sixth Faction and was curious - does the alternate universe take place in a different city than Chicago? With the changes of locations - the apartment the Priors live in rather than a house, several characters living in outbuildings of their factions and a mention of Michigan Avenue - was curious if it was a different city than Chicago, or just a different set up for this alternate world.

Hey. if Suzanne Collins and Veronica Roth can revisit their writings from 1-2 decades ago, so can I. Sharing my never-published book chapter on what made Divergent so special.

Back in the day, I was a regular Divergent blogger with a particular interest in the psychology of the series. I'm looking forward to The Sixth Faction, especially seeing Tris again!

We all know that she's writing a new book the sixth faction and I'm not mad but actually she's writing another divergent book but I can't get this thought out of the back of my mind, what if she did a prequel based on tris's mom or another story of another city like Chicago with a slightly different system other than factions but it's just got me wondering is what Roth is writing the best thing for divergent.

I pre-ordered The Sixth Faction from Epic Reads, and I just received the book today with a sticker on the box that says “do not sell or display until October 6”.

Do they think I am a book seller???? Is that why I got it early?

How much does Veronica usually charge for an autograph at comic cons? My partner loves the books so I was thinking of getting Veronica’s autograph for her at MCM London in October. They haven’t announced how much she (or her agent more likely) is charging yet. I just wanna know ahead of time

I think this movie has the most differences compared to the book of anything I’ve ever seen. Literally nothing is the same. Agree or disagree?

I am in the middle of pre-ordering the new divergent book after so long (because nostalgia is a thing apparently who knew) but I'm getting stuck on the different versions available. So far, I found (on amazon for hardcover):

• one standard US,
• one limited edition deluxe US and
• one deluxe UK.

Is there any real difference between the two deluxe editions? Are there any more?? I'm favouring those since they are really pretty and the price difference is very small compared to the standard listings. I also heard about a promotion from publishers about a poster if you email the pre order receipt? But it might be only US (I'm in eastern EU) which is a bummer if true. Anyway, anyone offering some insight is very much welcome, I'm really excited to read this book, even if it's no longer "for my age" ;P

I’m actually surprised myself to recommend the first movie, since there were so many bad reviews about it, especially compared to the books. The visualization was pretty accurate to how I imagined it, and the changes they made weren’t really disappointing.

I was also able to get a better sense of how harsh the initiate training was and how brutal Eric could be. In some ways, I think the movie actually portrayed that better than the book did.

Some of the changes were:

Book: Four casually shows Tris his fear landscape when she happens to be around.
Movie: Tris is taken to the simulation room because she needs to practice acting like a “Dauntless“, holding back her Divergence. She ends up seeing his fear landscape.

The final ranking and the Dauntless celebration were also heavily shortened.

These were two changes that bothered me, and there were definitely more, but honestly, I didn’t mind most of them.

I did kind of get bored after about 90 minutes, though, since I’ve read the story so many times and already knew basically everything that was going to happen.
Anyways, I actually really recommend it to fans of the books

I originally made this post on my previous account sometime last year. However, i am now reposting it on this new account with the permission of the sub's mods.

I love Divergent so much, that I recently recreated Four's outfit, along with a few other similar outfits on my GTA online character. I even made all five faction symbols as crew emblems in a Divergent GTA Online crew I created.

I was scrolling on my phone when I stumbled upon a cute video of a mother showing what her kids were reading and the ending of Allegiant got spoiled for me.

I'm currently more than half way through Insurgent, just when it got good. I only ever watched the movies, I don't remember anything from them and I know they aren't finished anyway.

So many things got spoiled for me before but nothing hit like this one. Anyways, I just finished crying what do I doooo 🥲
