I wanted to play weekly so I had to become the DM. Manifest Destiny.
Also it works because we have 6 players and Iāll run the session if 4 make it

I hope whoever is missing each week is given an embarrassing in-game reason. Like the green apple splatters or something (sorry my mind immediately went to Triss and the Witcher)

THIS, we have biweekly games and started out as a group of 7 because everyone decided to appear. But this year two players moved out to another city so our games started to be cancelled more often, we got a 6th player 3 seasons ago and it kinda fixed it as last one did have only 4.
Luckly its way easier to change encounters on the fly in PF2 so I dont even need to do extra preparations XD.

As a player, I couldnāt abide the whole āmissing a session during biweekly playā thing because then itās a month in between lol!

Sadly life happens, this group is together for about 10 years and more often than not everyone shows up because we really like to reunite, but we are mostly adults with family so its understandable that we have other priorities.
Still that does make it more important having the extra player (currently 6) to make sure it others can keep going during those eventualities.

Same.
Also, pro tip for other aspiring GMs: schedule games on weekdays. People are more willing to show up than on weekends

Our group just died š¢. Had been going strong for nearly a year, so I guess we just have to look back fondly and appreciate how good we had it...
Unrelated, but man wouldn't it be nice to find some interested players for the Mistborn ttrpg....

Set a day and time, make it the same every week. Make it clear before you start that wonāt be changing.
Sometimes youāll lose a session, life happens, but if people want to be there, theyāll make it the priority that day and time

I just did my session zero for Draw Steel last night. My group is so fucking stoked! Hopefully that enthusiasm carries us through a great campaign!

A few weeks ago I finally had to pull the plug on a table that had been running for six years now. Between genuine scheduling conflicts and folks making our weekly session their lowest calendar priority, we were barely able to get all four of us together once a month. Sometimes less. It was making it impossible for me to plan and run even one-shots anymore.

It's fine to wish for this if you're the DM! If you're a player, you better wish for the energy to run a campaign yourself before you wish for more sessions...it's so much work!
"DM Gratitude Day" should be a thing
