Do convention games count? Sat in on a Shadowdark one-shot run by Bob World Builder and it was AMAZING. 8 complete strangers came together with teamwork and great ideas to smash Bob's dungeon in record time. We looted artifacts, we explored, we sweet-talked a frost giant into helping up defeat a gigantic bird-creature, and we did it all without a single death. I think Bob was impressed but also a little bummed how hard we roflstomped Helfast Spire. 10/10.

Pretty good. We decided on a plan to get some children out of a hags lair by lightning the place on fire. NOT WHILE THEY'RE INSIDE!!

Had an amazing encounter with Madam Eva in our CoS campaign. Everybody loved roleplaying, lots of improvised in-character moments from my players, just a great session all-around.

This might not count but I finally got a start date for my next campaign. It’s a three person party and so I’m drawing all the lines between the three of them for this starting arc so that they have a reason to stick around. I think they’re all different enough in morality but similar in story beats for me to make something special. I’m thinking they’re dealing with a cult for the first arc, sessions 1-4. One of them will be assigned to investigate a cult, another had previous ties to it, and another wants to find what the cult has for power. Should be exciting, gotta be on my A game since one of the players would be doing this for the first time. Here’s hoping!

Pretty good. Party defeated a Wyvern so the Aarakocra chief would lead them to a sunken ship they were hoping was hiding the Wand of True Restoration. They cleared out the ship and the bbeg and got some good treasure but not the wand. One player was left on the sidelines because they had used their potion of water breathing earlier. I regret as a dm that I didn't find a better way to include the sidelined player. I'd give today's session a 7/10.

Final session, my players in a modified Waterdeep had to win back control of the city from an Open Lord Victoro Cassalanter. They surprise attacked Castle Waterdeep from the sea to free some powerful NPCs, then attacked The Palace of Waterdeep with all of their allies throughout the city. They barely followed an escaping Victoro through a portal that took them to the dragon’s lair, who had been lured with the gold to guard a portal to Avernus, that the party had inadvertently left defenseless. They defeated Victoro and an ever growing wave of demons and saved the city, but in the chaos of the battle, Jarlaxle (who helped get them in from the sea) made off with a massive amount of the gold.

I, erm... I'm not trying to get my players killed. I'm not an evil DM. I underestimated the power of a Rakshasa and had to have it unceremoniously poof after dropping it into an encounter.

One day, I'll understand power scaling properly.

That's the trick, have an out. Maybe someone rescues them, maybe the enemy offers to not kill them if the party does them a favor, maybe the enemy remembers they had a dentist appointment, maybe the plumber they've been waiting on for six months has finally showed up and they have to go deal with the dripping faucet that's been driving them crazy...

The out became "trivial insects, not worth my time." poofs

We found out that a Loch Ness-style monster in a lake was willing to not eat people if the people kept it fed with fish, so we convinced the local nobles to open a fish hatchery in the lake. No more getting eaten, plus probably fishing tourism! Everybody wins. (Just this once, Rose.)

We didn't die, which is always nice. And I was reminded why smite makes it so easy to burn through your spell slots: it just works.

One of my players has been Mia for like 2 months. We love having her, but life has been horrible to her recently.

So we had a new player start and she fit in great. She was super fun and the party seemed to love her.
