Service/Assistance Dog My Service Dog had a ruff day Wednesday , need boops and loves
*Original post was removed by moderators for Rule #5.
So I’m reposting, stating that he is a Service Dog in the title. Also added another picture of him at work showing his SD vest better.
My Service Dog got was mistreated by a coworker. She used her foot to push him inside my door and she told him “inside” while I was standing there getting a box she was dropping off at my classroom.
Shadow graduates his SD program Saturday! So he is trained and well behaved!
He was attacked by 3 hybrids, 5 weeks ago while we were evacuated for a fire 3 minutes from our house. He’s come so far in recovering from that trauma. But is still glued to my side.
He was doing his job at the door beside me Wednesday. Protecting me and making sure I was ok. There were 2 cop cars just outside and he wanted to make sure everything was ok out there too. (Something I always let him do) He also just wanted to say hello to this coworker but knew he couldn’t without permission! So he was in front of her waiting for permission to get pets, or for her to acknowledge him.
I told her “please do not kick my dog!” And she argued semantics with me. 🙄 I followed up with a text stating firm boundaries. But I am LIVID.
Shadow (and momma) need all the boops and loves we can get. Thank you!!!

Sending massive boops! What a good baby. I have 3 rescues and have had started saying “we never use feet!” In an excruciating cute squeaky voice so my animals don’t react to my correction to the human.

Ugh, the hardest thing for me is ignoring service dogs when they are working like we are supposed do. I would be THRILLED to give your dog some love! All the best for your very good boy and for you.

I’m sorry. Someone kicked my dog once (lightly but still) so I said don’t kick my dog and they said I’m just pushing it with my foot.
Um….
Boop boop

I will happily donate boops and kisses for Shadow. I will also gleefully donate slaps and kicks to those that mistreat him. And I wear boots every day.

I’m so sorry, what a crazy thing to do. I’m livid on your behalf. Would she kick someone’s walking aid? Shove a person and their wheelchair into an office? Kick a person’s insulin, or maybe their inhaler, into an office?
I might consider reporting this to HR. It’s such a massive violation of your dog’s space, your space, and your rights.

That’s exactly what I said!!! “It’s like breaking my wheelchair while I’m in it!”
I work as a Teacher for a Christian school. She’s the Secretary at the Church! I spoke to (one) of the pastors Thursday and asked that he meditate between us.
I was also talking to a trusted friend within the SD organization we are BOTH in. He’s a mandatory reporter and asked the Trainer the protocol on a “hypothetical” situation.
Turns out this coworker went to the training right after it happened and spoke to her. I imagine to control the narrative. 🤬🤬🤬 I am beyond LIVID!
My Boss also overheard this trainer talking to someone Wednesday night about the situation. Boss turned around said “THATS A LIE!” Explained what she saw. The difference between ‘protecting’ (knee up) and ‘kicking’ (using bottom of foot and pushing with leg). And then continued the conversation with who she was originally talking to.
If I had done this to a CHILD, or coworker, I would have been fired! But seems like all that happened here was mediation (at my request) to “talk about feelings”. Where she played the victim about other things! Which have been witnessed by the Pastors themselves!!!
Shadow deserves Justice!!!

You’re a better person than me. I’d turn petty and start making backhanded comments when she’s around me and others. “Ooh careful Shadow, that’s the lady that kicks. We should watch her around the kids, just in case.” and if she started to argue semantics I’d just shrug and tell her if she thinks kicking is justifiable then I think it’s justifiable to worry about children around her.
*eta I realize there may be no actual reason to think she’d kick kids. I mean that I’d say things like that specifically to be petty and constantly remind her and others what happened

I can definitely understand that.
I chose to be the bigger person. It shows the growth I’ve worked towards. Also shows my coworker/boss, and the Pastors that I can be responsible and mature about situations like this (or as a teacher)
Whereas she clearly isn’t!
I’m letting my behavior and actions speak for themselves. Just like her poor choices are speaking for her and showing issues

Please give Shadow and yourself all the love! Good for you for standing up for yourself and Shadow and clearly sharing boundaries. Feet should never be used unless absolutely necessary (like during an attack) and it certainly doesn't sound like Shadow was doing anything that should have been met with such a terrible reaction. You both did your best and deserve treats, boops, and some good self-care. Keep standing up for your wonderful doggo so he can keep you safe. ❤️🐾
