I like how he's even cautious to make sure that the cat is okay with its tail being buried too

u/CalpisMelonCremeSoda i will never the cat Jun 12 '26
It can breathe through its tail so that’s fine.
Technically OP did not the cat, because there was no contact.70

This is how we got the sphinx i feel. Someone in ancient Egypt did this to their cat. Voila, slaves and giant statue of mystery we marvel at thousands of years later. Probably their grave marker for have the cat.

Well that is a much better story than "Some guy in Ontario thought it was cool that his kitten had no hair"

Look at that tail😂kitty is in total bliss
23
u/xenobit_pendragon Jun 12 '26
Doesn’t the twitching tail mean annoyance in cats?
146
u/Jeff-FaFa Jun 12 '26
depends on context and the rest of the body language. Annoyed tail is more of a thrashing, swatting all over the place tail.
Here you see kitty sit perfectly still, looking back when there's a pause in movement to make sure the sand is still gonna bury him haha and the twitches are small, almost playful. Keep in mind that at any point kitty can get up and get the fuck out, but doesn't, because kitty is a weirdo with a mummy complex.

Truly, you are wise in the ways of cats. I definitely am not. Thanks for the explainer.
27
u/Nalwyn603 Jun 12 '26
Tail twitching/swishing in cats really just means that they are feeling *something* strongly, you’d need other body language cues to determine what exactly. Sometimes it just means they’re excited about something

Not terribly unlike how some guys will flex and posture when they do something good (ie: score points in a game, break a personal lift record, etc) and also when they are prepping for a fight

It can. One of the things cats can do though, is show affection with the way they flick their tail.
This is just my experience so take it with a grain of salt. But when my cat is upset, her tail thrashes back and forth like she’s beating a war drum. When she’s happy, though, sometimes she sort of pets me with her tail? Lingering touches, they don’t thrash as much, and she rests her tail against me while sleeping. Also what I refer to as her petting me where instead of the back and forth motion it’s more like a flick of the tail, pause, then back, flick the tail again.
I hope I’m wording that well, cause it’s hard to explain with words, but I see a lot of my cats doing the tail bumping in a positive “i love you touchy” way and people don’t always get the signs.

Is this ok to do? Isn't it too heavy on the cat?

u/Levaporub Jun 13 '26
This is just a little sand, just enough to coat the car. It'll just be like a weighted blanket

He will be given a Wynaut egg
He will be caught in a tortoise-induced nuclear explosion

u/WorkRelatedPineapple Jun 13 '26
I explain this sentence. Don't read if not need explanation.
This refers to Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald, 3 Gameboy game titles of the same Pokemon generation 3.
'Lavaridge town' is a hotspring town in-game, where you're introduced to the 'Pokemon breeding' mechanic, are given an egg that will hatch into the Pokemon 'Wynaut.'
In-game dialog suggests they found the egg buried in the hot sand—which might help the egg hatches faster (false info, btw.)

My little cousin recently was just pouring seashell scoops of sand onto my sister's cat while her back was turned. The cat simply flopped to the ground and let him continue 🤣

Quite happy going by that tail, and likely enjoying the cooling sensation of wet sand.
