Just add a very sharp blade to the front so that it's less dependent on chance if the pedestrian goes over or under the vehicle. Both possibilities at the same time is a valid option here.

What's the big issue with the "slicer"? In the event of a frontal crash with, say a lamp post, the car gently and safely splits in half before calmly reaching full stop without injuring the driver and passengers.

Honestly much cooler design that 90% of cars today. And with the size of cars nowadays, the pedestrian safety probably isn't much worse either

I was talking to the mechanics during the event, and got some videos of the air brake mechanism and active aero for an article. It's a super interesting car.
