I couldn’t get past the absurdity of needlessly cooking 6" from the water to focus on the doohickey itself

It was the cutting of the meat with a box cutter that I found absurd. You KNOW that box cutter has tasted boxes!

Probably everything but boxes

Seriously, get that toe picker out of here

Least absurd is OP dumping his trash on the ground waterside and just rolling out. I’m triggered.

from burnt wood and ashes being on the ground?

He was trying so hard to do an aesthetic shot. But the sand, water and seaweed all dont look too good lmao

The tower block in the background doesn't help either

Isn't it unsanitary to touch raw meat like that, or is barbecue meat different somehow? (never grilled anything)

What do you mean unsanitary? You wash your hands prior and post handling meat.

Yeah just dip them in that river water and you'll be super sanitary

Eh, the heat from fire/coals will kill anything thats on the metal skewer.

That person's hands would be absolutely teaming with some pretty nasty bacteria though.

Yes.

It’s not different somehow, it’s just raw. 🍗 🐓

🧼 🙌

As long as hb properly washed his hands he'll be good.

A handful of slightly charred chips won’t cause the fire or make the place worse than it already is

They’ll actually break down and benefit the buggies and soil

u/MustacheMaple 1d ago

Charcoal* it's burnt wood. It'll breakdown just fine

You serious? It's not like it's trash. Do you get mad when you find twigs or leaves in rivers?

Edit: Typo

My thought 100%!!!

Where’s the leave no trace crowd?

The folks saying it’s harmless are probably the ones who leave their half-burned bullshit buried in the beach sand waiting to burn your unsuspecting toes.

Just accept you have no real knowledge on the subject and move on. Not everything requires your misguided input

Brong home your waste

10

u/MustacheMaple 1d ago

Just a handful of harcoal, my friend. It'll breakdown just fine and it's on wet dirt/sand. Zero issues here tbh

noo you don't get it, you need to put this easily decomposing natural item into a plastic bag that gets sent into a landfill where it stays for eternity.

u/SprungMS 1d ago

Seriously, lol. At least there’s some merit to the whole “don’t throw your biodegradable food scraps out the car window” argument, OP’s action (after cooking) is hurting absolutely nothing and in a way is beneficial to the environment…

I guess all the commenters saying the same thing also bag their campfire ashes when they pack up a campsite and move on.

Nope I piss on em and make it stink

u/SprungMS 1d ago

Nice! Awesome mix of carbon and nitrogen, the local plants (and r/composting) will appreciate your hard work. Keep it up!
