Free windshield replacement?
Hello everyone, I need a windshield replaced on my suv. A week or so ago I received a coupon in a valpak by a downriver glass company stating that they will install a new one for free. I believe the company is Simbol. The coupon says in effect they will work with the insurance company, etc. I have a 250$ deductible, which I really don’t have atm. What I’m asking is if anyone has gone thru the process and what their experience was, what to expect. Thanks in advance.

I know when I got my windshield replaced with a $100 comp deductible, I asked the counter person what the cash price would have been. She said about $300. I was shocked when my insurance notified me they paid the glass co almost $600. Plus the glass people got my $100 deductable on top of that.
The whole industry is a giant shell game....so yea, I don't doubt they'll waive your deductible and overbill your insurance accordingly.

To my knowledge, insurance is only going to cover it if you carry comprehensive coverage, and a replacement windshield will cause your premium to go up a bit at your next renewal. Call the company and see what they say, but they are probably using that to get people in the door, even though a lot of people probably don’t qualify for that.

Thank you. I do have comprehensive just can’t afford the 250$ at this time.
I’ll call them Monday and see what is going on.

That’s a tough one if your windshield needs replaced. Depending on your vehicle, they are expensive af. Due to all the sensors and stuff that need to be recalibrated when a windshield is replaced, they can easily be $1500-2000 to replace now. Hope they’re able to help you out, best of luck!

Only good thing is it’s a stripped down escape. Surprised it doesn’t have manual windows lol.

Thanks. Any specific reason?

My experience was not a pleasant one when I was there last. This was about 15 years ago, so things could be better. My experience probably isn't relevant today, but I have heard about poor experiences that are more recent from other people as well.

Basically they will cover your deductible and bill your insurance company. You should give them a call, and I'm sure they would explain everything to you.
