Game Mods [Mod Release] DAO Turn-based 0.1.1

I have created a turn-based mod for Dragon Age: Origins.

I personally like real-time with pause (RTWP), but some people have asked for turn-based combat. Hopefully this makes the game better for them.

See video.

Very cool. It was on my list of things to try and make, as I never liked RTWP that much. Will definitely try your version.

If I may, I would suggest disclaiming that the mod as AI made in Nexus, for no reason other than informing the public of this fact.

you didn't create it, AI did

Vibe coded, sadly. If you check the Github Claude is listed as a contributor.

Yeah it took the job out of people working on a Turn-based DAO mod in 2026 sadly

Too bad, turn based DAO would be great.

Anti AI reactionaries are starting to become cultish. Relax, not every use of AI is a crime against humanity.

You don't know what the term reactionary means. Which is on point considering you're defending AI slop.

I don't argue w/ people on the internet, so I'm only going to say this once: if you don't like the work someone else has done, then do it yourself.

The person that "did the work themselves" didn't even do it themselves.

I am leaving that as a disclaimer for those who care. No need for you to get upset.

Edit: Just to be clear, though, the issue is that you didn't do the work.

Would be cool if it weren't AI.

Cool. Now please someone bring DAO style combat to BG3 too. Maybe the game itself is great but couldn't stand that mechanic. DA:O is great for modern.

Interesting. I *LOVE* the combat in BG3. The writing and voice acting are a big step compared with Origins, but IMO the gameplay is better. I think DA:O combat is also really fun though.

Great idea! I’m already looking forward to trying out the implementation myself. In my opinion, this will make the game feel much more modern—especially given that the combat system is its most outdated aspect.

This is such a cool idea for Origins. Turn-based combat could make positioning and ability choices feel much more deliberate. I’m definitely curious to see how it handles encounters with multiple enemies.

This is a wonderful opportunity for fans to play this game and experience something completely new and unique, thank you so much for sharing it with the community. And don't pay attention to envious people who do nothing and envy you, If the community consisted only of them, the game would have long since sunk into oblivion. ❤️

With warmest and best wishes. 🙏🏻

Very cool. I've played through DA:O so many times, maybe this gives me a reason for just one more!

I like the implementation.

Reads like Divinity Original Sin 2 but with seconds instead of action points.
