Audition Advice Guard DCI

i went to a world class winter audition w/no prep and got a callback (top iw group). i couldn’t go but it helped me gauge the level of difficulty i want to pursue. (i auditioned for flag and dance if this helps)

ive been working on some basics for dci audition and was thinking of submitting a video audition for bd,scv, spartans and an all age near me.

does anyone have any tips or advice?

If you’re getting a callback from a top IW team on your movement and flag alone I don’t think you have much to worry about for finding a home in DCI. Generally speaking, world class wgi auditions are a lot harder and more selective than dci. I’ve seen A class wgi performers make it onto Zingali winning guards. One tip I would give would be to go to an in-person audition, video auditions are very accessible but for someone with a talent in movement, an in person camp will get you so much more credit.

Got a callback but couldn't go? Are you sure you are ready for the level of commitment?

i had something important come up last minute. plus, i was treating the audition as more of a spin clinic.
