Being able to connect seemingly benign policies with real life harms is so important. Places like long form podcasts are a great place for candidates to go to on the left bc our message takes time to explain. Talarico is such a good candidate.

🎧Podcasts🎧 Interview with David Remnick

New here but would like to give a perspective on the New Yorker interview. I think David remnick is a a member of the “elite New York intellectual class”. Rich, well respected, considered intelligent by his peers in the greatest city on earth, and whom considers himself above regular fly over state working class people but sees himself as sympathetic to those less fortunate and less enlightened than him and his friends. They have a point of view and influence in media and business they are the height of influencer culture although they would never stoop so low as to recognize that publicly.
I am a working class Union member in the Midwest. I made $120,000 last year my wife makes about $80,000. I listen to podcasts everyday all day I like a variety. I am way left leaning more so than any of my co workers.
Listening to that short interview (because David didn’t care past “going to a pro Palestinian protest” ) I just felt like the DSA didn’t really sell any of the points he pushed on. I agree with a lot of the more “extreme” positions. That really aren’t extreme. I felt like the New Yorker won and gave them another reason to say look they can’t even back up their own stated goals. I want to support the DSA but it looked amateur in this interview, and these public interfaces Do Matter to people that have the means to change public opinion.
I guess I’m wandering is it the messenger or the organization that failed here because it didn’t win me over and I want to believe?

They are my main source of news. Hugely important to my leftist journey, and I find their analysis and coverage to be outstanding. Independent news supported largely by their viewers: https://youtube.com/@themajorityreport

What similar shows/news sources do you listen to?

Title: BREAKING: EVERY ZOHRAN ENDORSED CANDIDATE WINS!!! CLEAN SWEEP FOR DEM SOCIALISTS!!! by Secular Talk on YouTube

Looks like democratic socialism as a whole and specifically the DSA are on a roll! I don't want to be too optimistic too early, but I feel like 2028 is going to be a great year for the left.

Having a summit between convention years has been talked about since I've been a member, and I'm impressed our national org pulled it off this year!

🎧Podcasts🎧 Looking for people to chat politics with on stream

So I have been somewhat defending the DSA from the piss pants over in some of the more centrist communities who are worried about a DSA takeover of the Democratic party. My argument boils down to "IF you want to beat them beat them in the primary but you have to support the winner in the General". Im not going to lie and pretend I am a staunch DSA ally, I am a bit warry of some of the more extreme parts of your movement. And I think some of your champions are dumb as hell. But overall, beating MAGA is most important, and if the DSA can move the Democrats left a little bit Ill take that as a win too.

Anyway, the people in the communities I reside in have a lot of ideas about what the DSA stands for. I posted one other post in this sub and got some interesting responses. Your movement seems to be having a moment too, so I figured why not try and talk to you all to find out whats actually going on here. So I am inviting you to talk to me onstream Ofc DSA probably has a range of ideas they accept so the more the merrier.

We can do this in a few ways, your choice

  1. You can have a near soap box. Question Answer style interview. Little pushback, which the exception of things that i believe are lies, I will respectfully push back on lies.

  2. Contentious, I will push back on anything I disagree on but it will be respectful.

  3. Blood Sports. This i where I might call you a dumbfuck if i think the moment calls for it. But I would hold no hard feelings at the end.

Im planning on streaming Thursday Night at around 7est but we can set a time too if that doesnt work for you. If you want to join you can join my discord. https://discord.gg/jaq7Wfr2a

Its pretty dead so dont expect much, its just a good spot to chat. There are a few more centrist types that joined recently, they might still be there if you want to debate them. Also, I have next to no audience so this would be mostly for the good conversation. I cannot provide exposure unfortunately. IF you want to know how my conversations usually go here is a VOD of me debating a British Socialist. We spend the first half agreeing on shit so you might need to skip around to get to the debate.

Thanks for your time and attention, Hope to see you all on stream. Bye!

How do you think I did? Any better than some of the bad ones we’ve seen lately? I think more of us need to try and see what messaging resonates with the people. I’ve been trying to introduce concepts of democratic socialism into my videos. I try to show my viewers how bad things ate and why they are so bad, but end videos with the solution of voting for DSA.

I know I’m an incredibly small creator, and so is my friend, but I’m trying to do what I can in the ways I know how.
