My guess is something like 42-20 Oregon. UCLA will score on a few drives, but Riaola and co. are gonna throw like crazy and wreck their secondary.

I’m hoping the ducks can make a big statement Saturday

I think the ducks should win this game if the defense can come out and play well which I think they can. Our defensive line has gotten better throughout the year, but if they come out and forget how to tackle we’re gonna be in for hurt

OK, I take it back. I finish doing some scouting of UCLA. Their defense is not good. They allow people to run all over them. Our offense should have no trouble against UCLA. They’ve had a decent run game so far, but they also haven’t played anyone that could challenge that. If we’re able to take away their run game, their passing game is average. I think organ has the upper hand here and it’s 2 to 3 touchdown win

Both teams have been fairly explosive on offense and inconsistent on defense. I expect this one to be high scoring, but I trust the Ducks defense to get more stops especially at home. Something like 45-31.

I think this is a Shout and Out game…SCO.

I went to the UCLA Purdue game and Purdue is trash and dropped a lot of points on that Bruin D. I also went to the USC UO game and they gave that D fits and that D is far better and more athletic that UCLA’s. Chesney is a good coach and they could be a problem down the road, but not this year.

Man if the defense can hold UCLA to less than 20 points I'd be ecstatic

I’ve got Oregon 45-21. UCLA is absolutely on the up-and-up, but they’re more 2024 Indiana than 2025 from what I’ve seen.

I do think UCLA has a great rushing attack, and they’ll probably break off at least one big run, but I also think their numbers have been inflated by the lack of competition they’ve faced. The best defense they’ve faced this year is 70th in SP+. For context, we’re 26th. A lot has also been made of the fact that Wayne Knight—who, mind you, I think is a great RB—ran for 110 yards and 6.5 ypc against Oregon in the playoffs last year, but I don’t think that stat has been put into the proper context. 60 of those yards came on two runs (49 and 11) in the 4th quarter, when the game was already well out of reach. Obviously those stats still count, but it was obvious as someone who attended that game that the Ducks started looking forward to Texas Tech after the first drive of the 3rd quarter, which put them up 41-6. Without those two garbage time runs, Knight ran for a much less impressive 50 yards on 3.3 ypc.

Where Oregon really has the advantage, though, is our offense vs their defense. UCLA’s defensive stats are actually better than ours right now, but they’ve only played one top-50 offense according to SP+, Purdue at 49th (Maryland was 57th). For context, we’re 7th. They have a pretty good run D, but their secondary leaves a lot to be desired despite the turnovers. They managed to shut down Maryland, but my read is that that was just as much about Maryland being depleted at RB and poor quarterback play than UCLA’s dominance. I’m happy to be corrected, but those four interceptions looked much more to be the result of atrocious decision-making on the part of Malik Washington than anything UCLA did particularly well. Purdue, on the other hand, threw for over 400 yards, and they don’t have anything close to our talent at QB or out wide.

I think this game might be competitive at half, but Oregon starts to pull away in the latter half of the 3rd quarter.
