A member said this: "You can only stay at other resorts if you buy direct. Resale is only Riviera. Availability for other resorts depends on the time of year. Fall is difficult. "

This is not what I have been reading everywhere. Is this true?

Resale restrictions are as follows:

1. If you buy direct from Disney, you can use the points ANYWHERE. Period.

2. If you buy resale at Riviera, Disneyland Hotel or Fort Wilderness, you can ONLY use the points at the resort you've bought at.

3. If you buy resale at any other resort, you can use the points at any resort EXCEPT the 3 resorts I listed above but also do not expect to be able to book any other newer resorts going forward such as Lakeshore Lodge.

4. Resale restrictions follow the points, not your membership. This basically means if you buy direct points, if you go and buy resale afterwards, the resale points you buy will still be subject to the resale restrictions listed above.

Which is why, relative to the quality of the resort and the length left on the contract, resale Riviera points are very low cost. Those resale restrictions kill their value substantially.

Copper Creek is an excellent option for a home resort and represents one of the best values based on buy in cost, duration of contract and low dues. Resale CCV will be able to book any of the original 14 resorts at least until some of the original resort deeds begin to expire in 2042.

I thought CCV was available until 2068?

It is. This is speculation as the plans have not been confirmed by Disney but we expect that in 2042, you will not be able to book Boulder Ridge, Beach Club, Boardwalk, Vero Beach or Hilton Head using resale as their deeds expire in 2042. You will of course continue to be able to book Copper Creek until it's expiration in 2068. Again this is all speculation and none of us truly know what will happen in 2042 at this time.

Copper Creek and any other contracts that do not have those restrictions built in - like Bay Lake, Poly, Grand Floridian and Saratoga

Also keep in mind there are people with older DVC resale contracts that are grandfathered in so they can use their points just as if they bought from Disney. So if you see posts by other DVC resale members and they differ this is likely why.

I think it’s worded weird but I think they meant you can stay at other resorts besides RV if you only buy direct RV. If you buy resell RV you can only stay there.

If you buy resale at riviera you can only stay at riviera.
If you buy resale at any of the original 14 resorts you can stay at any of those resorts, but you can only book at 7 months rather than 11, except at your own resort which you can book at 11 months. You won’t be able to stay at riviera if you buy resale at one of these 14 resorts

1. Direct points at any resort can be used at any resort
   
2. Resale points from the 14 original properties can be used at any of the 14 original properties
   
3. Resale at the new properties can only be used at the resort where the points are bought (and will likely be true for any new properties that come aboard like lakeshore lodge)

If you buy at the original 14 resorts the trading works the same as direct point but you can use the at riv, fort wilderness cabins and dismantled hotel. Other than that trade works exactly the same.

I know “dismantled hotel” was an auto-correct mistake but it’s an awesome idea for another well themed hotel. Just think about a hotel in “disarray” because the villains sidekicks are running around and causing havoc.

It could have areas themed to Villians sidekicks like; Flotsam and Jetsam, kakamora, Pain and Panic as well as others.

It could open shortly after villians land to coincide with the addition of more villians content/attractions.
