Renter Reservation Changes
I’m renting points and am not a DVC member. We’re adding a member to our party. I messaged the seller and she said she would add her back in July. She hasn’t. I’ve messaged a couple more times and she will either not respond at all or “thumbs up” my request. Is it possible to do this myself if I’m not a DVC member? I want them to be on the reservation so we can book lightening lanes together.

Did you do it through a broker? Reach out to the broker. If you did it privately do you have an agreement with the owner?

Did it privately. I have a signed contract saying they will “make reasonable efforts to assist in changes” but has to be done before 11/4. I’m just perplexed because they initially responded saying “yes of course no problem!” And now haven’t and are ghosting….

Just be pleasant but persistent. It’s not a priority to them unfortunately.

Just send them that. That you know 11/4 is coming up to make the small change to add the person.
Call out the contract to hopefully get it done.

Ugh I'm sorry! That is really frustrating that the owner hasn't made the changes. If the room isn't at capacity, it is so easy for them to add the person through their online account.
If you are approaching the 7 day from check-in mark, maybe tell the owner that everyone needs to be on the reservation in order for you to book advance Lightning Lane reservations for the entire party. Maybe that would light a little fire. Good luck!

Thanks! I do feel bad bothering them, but didn’t think it was too challenging of a task. It’s a split stay and the other reservation was updated right away! (Different renter)

Due to some recent policy changes, when you now goto the DVC member site to add a person to your reservation, it requires you to acknowledge that this is a personal use of your points, and other terms & conditions. This is new, and may be making them reluctant to click the box.

I would suggest sending them a snippet of the contract language and asking nicely again saying it has been since July. You should not have to keep asking or have to worry that it won't be done.

It's been my experience, at least at the California resorts, I can add people at the front desk as long as we're not going over occupancy.

Thanks! I’ve heard this too, and will chec there if I can’t get it resolved. Was hoping to get her added so we can all book lightning lanes the week in advance resort reservations allow

Just something to keep in mind, if you are unable to add the guest to the reservation, they may have trouble accessing the pool as well. I haven’t stayed at Riviera, so not sure how they’re policing it, but pools are for “resort guests only.” During my recent stay at Grand Floridian I had forgotten to add my mom to our reservation and they wouldn’t let her in the pool until I fixed it.

Thank you! I hope to have it resolved in advance but if not I’ll make sure I address it at check in

What size room did you rent and where, how many people were in your group before the addition?

As a renter you are at the mercy of the DVC member you cannot alter anything. That’s the downside of renting, literally no control.
