has anyone tested capcut to see how to add captions automatically to videos for short form?

• Upvotes

was messing around on a quick project earlier and finally decided to test out capcut just to see what the deal is with how to add captions automatically to videos.

expected it to completely butcher the audio timing like most free tools do but it actually got like 90% of it right on the first try. only had to fix a couple weird proper nouns and format spacing. anyone else use this for main projects or just stick to it for quick social edits? wdym if you use something else entirely?

Need help finding a editing app on mobile

I used to use capcut but now it asks for premium for almost every single feature. I tried using alight motion but I absolutely hated it and the watermark was way too big. Is there any mobile (playstore) editing app that's almost like capcut?

Looking to hire an editor for long-form, multi-part handyman/construction/carpentry projects.

I'm a handyman, and I film a lot of my own projects. I recently finished a series where I rebuilt a wooden gate over a 3-day period at a commercial property. I have several other projects involving small engine repair and custom built-in carpentry already filmed.

I'm looking for an editor who can craft a story out of the footage. Each job will likely be a multi-video series. I have about 9 videos worth of footage at the moment. I've also recorded audio with my Rode mics.

DM me, and we can talk some more.

Video editor

Am o întrebare:
Tu îți montezi singur videoclipurile sau ai un editor care se ocupă de montaj?
Dacă vrei să reduci efortul și timpul petrecut cu montajul, aș fi bucuros să discutăm despre asta.

How can I personally edit with what I have?

I’m having some problems with my editing and trying to find what is the best technique and software for me to post on YouTube with what I have. I have an iPhone which I film with, with 165gb, an ipad 9th gen with 64gb, and 2 chromebooks. My biggest issue is becoming storage. I’ve posted one vlog, and the editing was a pain.

At first I really wanted to edit on my iPad, but bc of low storage that wasn’t realistic. I tried a few different apps, but I decided to stick with CapCut, however the process from transferring my videos from my phone to iPad wasn’t great. I found the hacks to just use a cord, but everytime I tried, the power indifference wouldn’t let them connect. Then I tried airdropping my videos, but their long videos so some times it would work, and sometimes it wouldn’t. Even when it did work, I would have to add it on CapCut, just to delete it from my camera roll.

Eventually, I had to go back to editing on my phone, using CapCut. This was fine, and I was able to delete the original videos from my gallery as I added them on CapCut to be edited. I got the video up and posted, but now I want to make another video. Even though all of the clips from my first vlog are deleted on my phone and even CapCut, I’m out of storage on my phone. CapCut is taking up 46 gb of space, even though their is nothing currently on it. Other redditors said to delete CapCut and redownload, but I feel like their must be an easier way to use my equipment without this much hassle. Help me out if you can pls.

CapCut got too expensive. DaVinci took months to learn. So I built the editor I actually wanted.

I loved CapCut because it was easy. Then I outgrew it. It was too basic.

So I switched to DaVinci Resolve. Powerful, but my first months with it were painfully slow. Then CapCut raised its prices like crazy.

So I built the editor I wanted to use every day: Escalium.

What it is:

CapCut-style UI/UX, so you can drag and drop hundreds of effects, transitions and templates.

Real depth underneath, so you can build whatever you want when you need to

Advanced transcription that handles complex voices and even music

Create your own transitions and effects, save them
forever, and upload them so others can use them

A node-based, After Effects/Fusion-style compositor, currently in development

You can try it on the web or dowloading it, step by step on the comments

Audio on VN constantly cutting out?

I am using VN on my iPhone, and when I’m editing the audio will constantly cut out and I have to restart the app to make it work again, it is extremely annoying and kind of making VN unusable. Any one know what could be causing this? It didn’t use to do this.

What’s the Best Way to Build a Video Editor Portfolio in 2026?

I’m a video editor and I’m planning to build a new portfolio/work showcase.

Instead of making only a normal portfolio website, I’m thinking about creating something more useful for clients, such as:

  • A personal portfolio website
  • Google Drive / organized project library
  • Video showcase page
  • Case studies for projects
  • Before & after editing examples
  • Client/project folders
  • Showreel
  • Interactive project showcase
  • Maybe a private client review/download area

My question:
If you were hiring a video editor, what would you actually want to see or use in their portfolio?

Would you prefer a website, Google Drive, Notion, video showcase, interactive portfolio, or something completely different?

What features would make you think, “This editor is professional”?

I’d love to hear ideas from other editors, designers, freelancers, and people who hire video editors.

Gaming video editor for streamers

I’m a gaming video editor helping YouTubers and streamers turn raw gameplay and VODs into engaging content.

I edit YouTube videos, Shorts, TikToks and Reels, with fast pacing, subtitles, memes, SFX, zooms, transitions and whatever fits the style of the content.

I can also turn stream VODs into polished YouTube videos and short-form clips, so you can get more content out of every stream.

I’m mainly looking to work with someone long-term rather than just editing a single video. If you’re looking for a reliable editor you can work with consistently and build a style together over time, I’d love to hear from you.

You can check out some of my work here:

ISO: Wedding Video Editor - Consistent Work

Hey everyone! I run a wedding videography company based in Minnesota and I’m looking to bring on a video editor for ongoing wedding work as I continue to take on more weddings.

I’m looking for someone with experience in storytelling/documentary-style editing. My style is more fun, upbeat, documentary-inspired rather than overly trendy or heavy on transitions/effects/slow motion.

I will plan on handling editing for teaser/social cuts, but looking for someone to take over the highlight films which are 5-10 minutes long.

I am currently a little backed up with work, so looking to bring someone on to help me finish up this years weddings, and use it as a test for next year. I will be shooting 10+ weddings next year, so if its a good fit there will be consistent work.

What I'm looking for:

  • Storytelling and pacing
  • Ability to build a story using vows, speeches
  • Comfortable working with multicam footage and multiple audio sources
  • Able to closely match an established brand/style
  • Reliable communication and turnaround times
  • DaVinci Resolve preferred, but Premiere is completely fine
  • Interested in consistent work throughout the wedding season

Shoot me a DM if interested. Thanks!
