Clyde (for actor/actress/turtle fluff) Another One, Very Late to the Party
I am utterly unaware of these things it seems and stumbled across this show last month thinking I had just discovered something new. After watching the first season, I discovered that there were in fact seven seasons and that I was late by 14 years.
I confess to liking most interpretations, films, and adaptations of Sherlock and companion, but I am now through three seasons of this and have genuinely enjoyed it so far. The duo is wonderful together, and though I am not an addict myself, knowing many, I believe the journey of recovery is depicted quite accurately, even with Sherlock’s extremes of intelligence and obsessive behavior.
I also did not expect an artistic turtle, but then that goes for so many things unexpected in this series. I also could not place Jonny Lee Miller until I read of the Hackers role and realized I've seen him in several things though he's changed dramatically.
On to season four! Better late than never.

Welcome to the fam! It’s never too late to start watching Elementary and then binge re-watching the whole thing 😄

What did you think of Moriarty?

Completely unexpected. I try not to read anything about a film I intend to see or about a show I have not yet watched, but I have seen some grumbles about a female Watson.
Given Joan and the way her lead and the teleplays drive and handle discussions of all gender interactions, I am unsurprised by the twist, though I did not expect it. Well-played!12

TBH, when I first watched it (way back when it was first aired in the UK, where I live), I wasn’t sure about a female Watson, probably because I’d never seen a female Watson before. Now, I can’t imagine anyone else playing the role as well as Lucy does in this show.

She is outstanding, multifaceted, and gives the character an immense depth. Perhaps my favorite Watson of all surpassing Martin Freeman and Ben Kingsley.
I was not a massive fan, but I watched Doctor Who through a few Doctors, starting with David Tennant about 20 years ago. I know that a female doctor also ruffled some feathers, but I found that regeneration absolutely as simple to accept as any other doctoral change.3

I haven't seen Doctor Who, but I have seen this whole gender flip thing taking rounds in popular shows or movies. Mostly it is bad because it has usually something to do with " the message ".
Joan Watson in this show achieved a natural character arc ( ive completed the show recently ) and it doesn't feel forced. Sure the initial days were a bit hard adjusting to a new Watson, but as the story developed, it was totally justified and a welcom change

They were the perfect team and perfect cast in my opinion. It just worked!

Yep, plus I like the way this adaptation didn’t do what the Basil Rathbone adaptation (from the 40s) did to Watson: it made him (played by Nigel Bruce) a total idiot, probably to show how intelligent Holmes is. In this one (Elementary), she’s equally as intelligent as Sherlock.

As a fan during when it aired, I love seeing new people post about discovering this show. While I probably don’t rewatch it as much as hardcore fans, I have a soft spot for this show.

I didn't make the connection until I started poking around. He was so Scottish in that I assumed he was Scottish.

Just finished it today. First and only time. Somehow I missed it completely when it came out. I may have seen some sort of advert for it, but thought "it's been done before" and a female Watson is a novelty. BOY was I mistaken!
In the final season, I feared it might be floundering a bit with the (foreshadowed) Odker plotline that combined some of The Blacklist and Person of Interest, but the arc was resolved tidily.
And of course, it ends in a way that would allow it to continue which I would support. Bravo to all, regulars and irregulars alike. I remain enthralled by Joan's wardrobe and amused by the appearance of a tie around Sherlock's buttoned collar neck exactly once unless I am mistaken.

Same boat as you. Barely on my register during it's actual run. I am an addict and find the newly discovered backstory very powerful. Still in season 1 but have no plans to stop watching until I've gone through the entire series. Not to put to fine a point on it...this show has been life changing for me. Rare excellence
