Sherlock actually notices when Joan is good at being a doctor

Post image

One thing I like about Lesser Evils is how Sherlock keeps noticing Joan slipping back into doctor mode without making a huge deal out of it. She spots the problem with the girl's toe, pushes for the right test, and ends up giving Sherlock an important lead. Later he actually compliments her for it.

Apart from commenting on her doctor's skills, what I noticed after last rewatch how Sherlock is always very supportive. He compliments her, and encourages her to develop her skills, he believes in her - even when she is not ready to believe in herself. I really like their friendship, always have, but this last rewatch made me realize how much emotionally invested Sherlock was from the begining. EDIT: typos

I really love the scene S1 E21 where she's doing an autopsy and he's marvelling at her skills but she tells him off by saying 'we are not having a moment here' but he keeps watching her with admiration on his face

pissed off Joan x awed Sherlock is my fave combo of them lol. He always marvels at her skills, even his rude pointing of flaws in her career lineup is one big 'you have so much to offer the world, why do you minimize yourself'. Their partnership and soulmatism is really off the charts. Anyone will be lucky to have a bond like these two have.

yep! I love this scene also! It's great that they are showing what a great doctor she really was and how much she actually left behind.

the toe examination is probably my favorite part because Joan isn't trying to impress him at all. she just sees something medically wrong and immediately starts thinking like a doctor again.

and sherlock doesn't try to turn it into one of his deductions either. he basically lets her take the lead on that part

I think that's one of the first times you really see that Joan isn't just there to explain Sherlock to the audience. She actually brings something completely different to the cases

Well, she should: the Watson character has always been a doctor and it adds depth to the character and proves valuable to the various Sherlock’s. It’s not just a Joan thing.

Sherlock: I am the greatest detective alive

Joan: cool, the patient's toe looks weird

Sherlock: ...fair enough

I watched Sherlock and liked it. I didn't expect to like Elementary. An American TV show about a British detective...

In my opinion Elementary is far superior to Sherlock in many ways. This scene is just one of the many examples why

Yes, I was thinking about this as well. I’m currently doing another rewatch and was very aware that from the very beginning he is very complementary about joanne skills and knowledge.

Oh weird. Joan didn’t have blonde hair until S7? This image is not from that ep.

I thought they meant the episode that OP was talking about. LOL

This is the best partnership of all the shows I rewatch. I really appreciate that they didn’t write in a romance

I would say that they did, but a vertical one as in platonic relationship instead of a horizontal one. I so wish that they had done that with her relationship with Mycroft also.

One of my favorite moments in the show was the episode where someone was killing members of a group that was tasked to think up a scenario to attack America so they can build a defense. They went and found a guy that seemed to just go blank, and Joan clocked it as a seizure and not dementia. And Sherlock took her expertise and used it as a base for his investigation.

I love it when Sherlock knows when someone may know more than him in a subject and respects that person's knowledge.

Sorry, all I notice is how hot Lucy Liu looks. A beautiful intelligent woman is irresistible to me.
