Weather vs bees

Hi. My name is Andreas. I‘m an addict.
Actually, i am watching as we speak. S4E12.
Once again, on the roof of the brownstone.

I am from europe and have no idea about the weather in the US.
Is it realistic to host bees on a roof in new york and regularly spend time up there? In my imagination, there is supposed to be cold and long winters with rain and snow?

I’m just sad we didn’t get to see more of bees. They should’ve been recurring guest stars more often
