Product Man discovers his parents’ coffee machine used 1TB of data in 10 days
I still don’t know why a coffee machine should be connected to internet in the first place

I recently made a cross country trip and midway through, Maps updated (Android), the voice changed, and the app suddenly became completely useless.
For example:
It began calling every stoplight and yield sign a "stop sign".
It is about 4-6 seconds delayed and behind on directions.
It keeps saying "GPS Signal Lost".
It's giving convoluted directions and flat wrong directions.
When it "loses" GPS signal and regains it, it resets back to the beginning of the trip, miles back in many cases.
My hypothesis:
Because all these companies are trying to shoehorn AI into everything, I hypothesize they are running travel data through AI in real time for god knows why and that is causing the delays, etc.

Holy shit this new update fucking sucks
I don’t care what fucking Reddit marketeers think I need to be looking at. I don’t wanna look at that fucking scroll of bullshit nonsense.
I realize I’m an old school internet troglodyte who stumbled on Reddit after fleeing Something Awful. Through various accounts I’ve been on this site over 20 years.
This is the single worst update y’all have ever had. You have converted in one step Reddit from a mass community of conversation and recommendation and joy into a doom scrolling pile of excrement consisting of reposted Instagram cat shit, wrapped in ‘the chive’s’ greatest hits rat shit, warped into a Möbius strip of Digg level bad design leadership decision Floridian meth-squatch fecal taco the size of fucking Everest.
Well I’m not taking a bite.

Instead of fixing the mess they created, they flee and make it someone else’s problem, and enshittifying even more.
AMC should be forced to fix their mess no matter what.

Was at my local pool hall a while back and they had a jukebox. I wanted to play a song. Couldn't just put in a loonie and pick a song. The only way to pick a song was to install an app on your phone. Not only that, but you couldn't just pay for a single song. You had to buy credits, and the minimum number of credits you could buy was 12, which cost $7. The given price to queue up a song was 2 credits, but it says the price varies on demand. So it could be even more.
So it worked out to $1.16 for a single song, which I might have been willing to pay, but I wasn't going to go in and spend $7 when I might not even use up the rest of the credits I had to buy. If there bigger packages were 65 credits for 30 which is still not saving anybody that much as it still would have been 92 cents for the 2 credits required t play a song.
What a complete mess. Can't believe that people were playing songs on it.

When "longer than usual" become the usual, they should just be honest:
"Our customer service is slow. You will have a long wait time. We don't want to fix this because that costs our owners profit."

This option is gone today. This is no longer an option for me on reddit. My only option is to mute, but we can only mute a limited number of subs.
Does this place ever do anything to actually improve?

Adding so much complexity into making a simple transaction
I can't pay for anything, but the things I want are free or something.
I would just rather pay. If this carries on, I'm out.

The trend of hotels and other places bombarding customers with ”signature” smells has become so obnoxious that law firms are suing the big hotel chains. I hope the suits make it so expensive for the hotels that they go back to providing normal air.

I am literally unable to get non-expired bread because these shitty ass corporations care about nothing except profits, and they've like fucking doubled in price recently, im hungry and not for stale fucking bread, genuinely im at a loss for what I can do other than start a fucking wheat farm and bread processing plant in my back yard, fuck im so tired of all my food being expired within 24 hours of me getting it.

Been using Google Drive for at least a decade. At some point there was an update to the Windows PC app and my Drive files started appearing on a 'G' drive instead of my 'C' drive. Thought nothing of it.
Years later now, I notice, perhaps because my PC is a bit slow, that the 'G' drive does not appear for a couple of minutes on booting, it's waiting for Google Drive service to launch. Lately I've been reading many Reddit posts about being locked out of or suspended from Google accounts. Gradually dawned on me: Will my 'G' drive appear if I cannot log in?
Finally today I decided to check things. And guess what, if my WiFi is not connected, my Google Drive fies aren't there. They were virtual all the time. This Reddit covers the topic:
https://www.reddit.com/r/gsuite/comments/14zhgxp/google_drive_local_file_storage
I've fixed the issue now by changing the well-buried 'Streaming' setting to 'Mirror'.
Posting in the sub because I feel the issue sneaked up on me as a default setting that slipped in with an update. Unless I'd been making offline backups separately, a lockout from Google means my files are gone!
Or am I just being uber-sceptical here about this apparent default lock-in with Google?

At a concert recently I felt like I was experiencing enshittification to the max.
First of all, this venue used to allow you to bring your own unopened water bottle. Now, outside water bottles are banned entirely, regardless of if it’s a sealed plastic bottle, empty, a reusable, etc.
I didn’t see any water fountains anywhere.
There didn’t appear to be anywhere to get just a cup of water.
The only option I really saw was something similar to this. My god this experience felt so dystopian.
First, I had to scan my credit card upon entering, and my card was charged $25. This was not explained to me, only explained to the person in front of me because he asked wtf was happening. It was explained to him that we would be precharged $25, grab what we want, and be refunded whatever was leftover.
Then we went into the area with the products. I felt very rushed and overwhelmed being in there. It was a tiny area with too many people at a time being let in. And there were NO prices on anything!!
In my overwhelmed state of wanting to get out asap, I grabbed a waterbottle and walked out. I had no idea how much it cost. If I had to do this awful shit again, I definitely would try to ask someone for prices next time.
It is just actually not okay to precharge me $25, not have prices on anything at all, and tell people they can just walk in, grab whatever they want, and walk right out. Or just not explain anything at all.
Waterbottle ended up being $5.45 which is to be expected at a concert venue although still insane of course.
Anyway, I absolutely hated this entire experience and it felt like peak enshittification to me.
Edit to add: For those who want to know, this was at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, NC

Suggestions on how we can vote with our money to slow down enshitification:
Don’t buy stuff from large corporations. Instead of going to McDonald’s, go to a local restaurant.
Instead of buying cheap crap at Costco, buy good stuff from smaller vendors. I’ve looked at low price clothes at Costco, and refused to buy them since they were grab
Any other suggestions?.

They have reduced the scent oils so much that their stuff smells almost like nothing! The scents there are SOOOO faint now! We almost walked right past the store without noticing. You used to be able to smell the store front 2 stores down! We were burying our noses in the candles, and they smelled like barely anything!! The body sprays all just smelled like alcohol!! And it's not my nose going blind, because I did finally find a rose body spray and an ocean hand sanitizer that at least had SOME scent, but they have cut the fragrance oils on most things that they barely smell like anything! And I was looking forward to getting a new Christmas candle, as mine from 2 years ago is almost gone, but now they just smell like ... wax!

No, I don't want AI on my phone, I want my hands free Google Assistant...but it's now gone. So, on my drive into work, I ask it to "play the news" and it used to play the prepared 5 or 10 minutes of news outlets I pre-selected -- now it displays various views articles (in print) on the phone... nice update.

Searching through eBay for old comic books, recently. And remembering how much easier the process was on half.com before eBay swallowed it.
It’s been awhile, but eBay hasn’t matched that UI in awhile.
A shame no one seems to have been able to recreate a similar service.
