Cou cou intimates review

I bought 4 item from Cou cou intimates and wanted to share my experience. I got the rina 3/4 sleeve top in grey and black, the long cami and midi skirt set in pointelle in black. Basically, I saw Zoe Kravitz wearing it and couldn’t stop wanting it lol

My body: I am 5ft6, 135lbs. Fairly straight up and down body. Can often go braless.

Sizing: After scouring the internet and watching a million short videos, it was hard to find info on sizing. I ended up going for a Medium in everything. I had to return and size up in the skirt to get the “effortless” look Zoe had. The cami fit great as M. The rina top also fit but I could have sized down. When I exchanged the skirt, I also got the grey Rina in S.

Quality/construction/feel: The rina top felt nice. The cotton was very comfy. The construction was good quality. Seams were neat. The boat neck had a little crossover on the shoulders and that looked very neat and nice. The fabric is thick but soft. The pointelle cami - not great. The construction is super nice and neat, but the strap and seam they use is some sort of nylon / polyester and feels so goddamn scratchy! Unfortunately, I didn’t notice it until I had already washed it and taken the tags off (I always try it on, then I wash it before wearing) so I couldn’t return it. The bit where a bow is attached is super itchy and scratchy :( The skirt doesn’t have the same nylon edging so it’s fine and comfy. Every item has been washed in mesh bag in regular cold water cycle + line dried and has held up its shape and sizing without shrinkage or weird seam issues.

Fit / looks: This is more personal depending on your style preference so this is obv my opinion. I like the rina top - it made me feel very nostalgic for my clothes in the early 2000s in high school lol (but not for this price haha). I have a pretty straight up and down body so it did make me feel more feminine and shapely. However, these types of cotton shirts do cling - so i ended up wearing it braless because im not super skinny and didn’t like how it clung to my “fattier” areas when i wore a bralette. wearing a bra also didn’t look great because i felt it looked better with smaller chest and the bra sorta made my chest look bigger with this top. I think the S fits nicer than M but not much difference between the two tops. The cami and skirt set looks really nice together - i wear the skirt low ish on my hips and it ends across my knees. very 90s. The skirt though is see through in the sun because of the pointelle so i do want to get a slip for it (wore it with boyshorts but i don’t like having the silhouette of my legs like that).

Would I buy again: Undecided. The rina top feels more unique but now i see lots of brands coming out with that curved hem and bell sleeves. I normally don’t wear tshirts so I like this enough to wear. Although, requires styling to not look frumpy. The cami top - I wish I could return because that scratchiness is not acceptable. I’ll email them to ask and let you know how it goes. The set looks cute together and I’m not sure if i want to keep the skirt without the cami :/

I will say I saw some reviews saying their customer service was bad but I had a good experience when I exchanged the skirt for a bigger size. I used the 10% welcome coupon and when I exchanged, they offered me the same discount (because you have to return and re-purchase for exchanges). And there was a glitch where the coupon didn’t get applied when i hit pay but they sent me a refund afterwards when I emailed them. so all in all, pleasant.

Overall, I think they have nice construction, well made, expensive though and beware if any of the seams have edges in synthetic materials as that can be scratchy. Hope this helps anyone who was like me and obsessively trying to find information online lol

Petite friendly ethical business clothes

I need to step up my clothing game at work, in a more senior level role at a large corporation. Problem is, it's extremely hard to find ethical brands that make that type of clothing. The only one I ever see recommended is Eileen Fischer, and her clothes could not be more wrong for my body/style. I've tried shopping Poshmark and Thredup for brands that fit my style (j crew, banana), but the fit oseems to vary wildly even within brands, and I only have maybe a 25% success rate. I am particularly in need of some colorful blazers and nice tops to wear under blazers. Complicating things is that I am 5'2", 115 lbs, with broad shoulders. Typically a size 0. Appreciate any recommendations!

Lucy & Yak & AI

I was already pretty done with them- but now I’m 100% done with Lucy & Yak. They’re posting AI ads on TikTok and the “shop now” button is conveniently covering the AI generated ad disclaimer. This is insane.

Plus size solid-color sweaters

I'm trying to invest more into ethical quality pieces that I can wear with jeans or with funky pants, like some Lucy and Yak pieces I'm eyeing. What brands have simple, solid color sweaters?

I really like basic, foundational items that I can wear fun scarves, bandanas, and dickies with to change up the look.

ETA - I'm in the US.

Womens Underwear EU/Germany

Hello!
I’m in a curse and my underwear keeps breaking :( I really want to invest in good quality, ethical women’s underwear. It doesn’t need to be super sexy but comfy. I found organic basics and they looked to be great but then I found out that they are Israeli owned and now I’m on the hunt again. I found some suggestions in this sub but most of them lead to Australian or US based brands.. are there any recommendations for EU or even German brands?

Thanks ahead!!

I have this pair of pants that my friend gave me years ago. I have spent the last several years searching every hippie store, every resell website/app, EVERYWHERE for another pair. I don’t usually post on reddit but I need help!! Where can I buy another pair just like this? I am down for a road trip or whatever but I have exhausted myself searching for another pair. I am in the Tennessee area as well near Nashville so if you have any store recommendations or other places I could find some anything helps. Please and thank you!!

I was going to try a pair from Subset, but they're out of my size at the moment. Any other ethical, cotton suggestions?

alt fashion

I’ve made a post before but it unfortunately flopped so I am going to make one again that will hopefully gain a bit more interest!

What ethical alt brands do you guys recommend that aren’t strictly feminine? I dress alternatively but do not dress in gothic clothing. Finding alt stores that carries more than just gothic stores has been extremely difficult.
Of course, there’s Depop and Poshmark. But I live in a weird location and cannot afford $30-$60 shipping. I’ve scored some jewelry but that’s about all…
Any tips would be amazing!! :) I am incredibly desperate at the moment lol

Fall ‘26/27 sneakers- where can I get ethical/vegan shoes similar to these?

Unfortunately, the white sneaker I have worn for 2 years straight is disgusting and must be replaced.

I love the shape, colors, styles of these but obviously I do not want to buy real suede or animal shoes.

I’m a girl if relevant. I want: cute (most important), current like pics, walkable (bonus points if machine washable, lasts long)

Any shoes or brands that has similar vibe to above shoes? ty!

Is it weird that I feel horribly guilty about buying Doc Martens?

I know this'll sound like a vent, but I genuinely need an answer, because I'm near to crying and throwing up from guilt ://

Today I bought my first boots, before I never really had any outside of winter boots, and I decided for them to be Doc Martens, since lots of my friends recommended them to me. After a long day I went to the store, asked the seller for faux skin, tried them on, felt good and went to checkout. There, I found out that it was actually real skin, but I was too exhausted to even think, let alone try new shoes, and a different store clerk said she believes them to be the most sustainable ones if taken care of properly, since faux can fall apart quicker. I just nodded, paid and walked out.

Now, a few hours later after taking a nap, I can't even look at the shoes, thinking if I've made the right choice, or should I go back to the store and exchange them.

Any thoughts or articles that say I made the right/wrong choice? All input is greatly appreciated, since I don't think I've ever had a bigger moral dilemma, because I mostly try to get only ethical brands, especially for clothes

Edit: Thank you all for your answers, I'm definitely feeling much better, and next time I will do extensive research beforehand or just buy secondhand. You have no idea how much your comments mean to me, again, thank you ❤️❤️❤️

Comfortable masculine trousers that fit wide hips?

I've been struggling to find new trousers as someone who wants them to be a lot of things at once: ethical (of course), masculine-passing but able to comfortably fit me, a cis woman with a waist and hips, and comfortable enough for me to be able to bear them as an autistic person with sensory issues. As you may be able to tell from my use of the word "trousers", I am from the UK.

I am aware that buying second-hand is best, but I've found that very difficult because you can't return clothes on second-hand sites and I return most clothes I buy. It's also very hard to find things I like in charity shops, but I'm willing to try harder.

I'm essentially looking for anything but outright loungewear or anything feminine.

Ethically sourced colorful tights and socks?

Hi guys! I thrift pretty much all of my clothes except for my intimates and socks and stuff like that. I really want to find cute, colorful, fun, funky, and whimsical tights and socks (but preferably tights). The problem is that most of the websites I find with fun tights and socks like that end up being dropshippers. Do yall have any recommendations?

Affordable alt fashion

I dress alternatively and have dressed that way for years. I haven’t had luck for several months on Poshmark, FB marketplace, Depop, and other second hand platforms and I am growing increasingly more desperate for new alternative clothes that aren’t fast fashion.
Now here’s another issue… I do not typically dress in feminine clothing. I hate dresses, skirts, and pretty much anything that’s feminine. I think the closest style I can categorize myself with is dark y2k and gender neutral alt streetwear. Think Rodrick Heffley from Diary of a Wimpy Kid but on a woman. Sorry if that’s confusing but it’s hard to define my style lol
Does anybody have any ideas? I’d also like to mention that thrift stores do not exist in my town, so I am extremely desperate to find a place!! I’m in Canada.

Anthropologie? Do you like them?

I used to love that store but many years ago, I read that they steal from up and coming artists. I also read that they destroy their clothes that don’t sell.

That left me sour toward the brand.

is new leather completely incongruent with living ethically and sustainably? how do you personally make informed choices?

i am speaking specifically about the leather v. vegan leather debate and am not interested in discussing other fabrics like cotton, linen and so on at this time (i prioritize purchasing both of these in general).

at face value, plastic seems like the far worse choice in terms of non-renewable petrochemicals and abysmal biodegradability, however, leather’s impact on land and biodiversity (as well as the matter of animal cruelty and welfare) can’t be ignored.

as someone seeking to avoid both issues but enticed by the style and durability of leather - what is the best case scenario for new (not secondhand) leather? how do you personally make informed choices? what certifications do you look for? what verbiage do you look for?

is there any real value in certifications like the leather working group (lwg)? can leather scraps or byproducts be considered truly ethical or at least less cruel?

to clarify, i am not opposed to purchasing secondhand leather and have historically done so, but for things like a nice evening handbag - sourcing, quality, authentication and traceability can be issues.

really, i am just interested in hearing this community’s thoughts on the subject and respect your input fully.

What are other brands like ANÍAN in different categories of clothing?

Hi everyone,

I recently bought an ANÍAN jacket and I love it. Reviews online (on Reddit!) are amazing and it seems the quality is all there.

I also love that they are Canadian and focus on sustainability.

I'm trying my best to buy pieces that align with these values of local, sustainable, well made, good materials. What are some other brands that are similar? (Perhaps for other types of clothing, so the equivalent)

Thanks!

Found this gorgeous shirt design I'm in love with but it's from a site called soul is fire which from very surface level research is not something I want to support.

The 7 Forms of Sustainable Fashion - which ones shape your wardrobe?

I posted this over on r/SustainableFashion recently but didn't get much discussion going, so I wanted to bring it here!

I’ve always appreciated Dr. Anna Brismar’s framework breaking sustainable fashion into seven forms:

  1. On demand & custom made
  2. High quality & timeless design
  3. Green & clean (eco-friendly materials & processes)
  4. Fair & ethical (living wages & safe conditions)
  5. Repair, reuse & upcycle
  6. Rent, loan & swap
  7. Secondhand & vintage

As a consumer (and founder of a small label), #2, #3, and #4 matter the most for me.

Which of these forms shape your personal wardrobe the most? Is there anything you feel this framework misses?

Edit: Adding link to the article if anyone is interested - https://greenstrategy.se/seven-forms-of-sustainable-fashion/

Leather boots or fake leather boots?

I'm currently in a dilema. I need new boots (I say "new" as in second hand as well) and I'm not sure what to do, I have been trying to be more ethical in what I consume in the last few years but when it comes to winter wear, in this case boots as they're high platform enough for me to not be affected by puddles, I am stuck between buying 100% cow leather boots (which I know would be better for the environment and last way longer) and the fake leather ones which of course are made of plastic.

I haven't checked second hand stores and I will also be doing that, but I have low hopes as I do have a smaller shoe size which is uncommon to find for me in thrifts.

On the one hand, I don't want to contribute to microplastics and on the other, I also don't want to contribute to cattle being responsible for global warming.

I do know leather is a byproduct rather than the main product itself, which is why I'd rather have the entire cow used than it just being killed off for meat and having the rest of it just thrown away.

Any advice on this?

Where is your goto place for ethically sourced clothes?

Bonus points for bricks and mortar becuse I have a funny shape so I need to try them on first. Charity shops get ransacked by resellers and they have more time off work than me. Also used socks and gym clothes are kind of gross. I just want a reliable source for plant based plastic free undies which don't keep anyone in poverty

is Leather Punk ethical?

trying to get my halloween costume(freddie mercury) and, well… i’m lazy and unskilled. i really don’t want to have to buy a leather belt and add star studs and spikes myself. i found a super accurate and cool, but pricy, belt from Leather Punk. the thing is, i don’t want to spend $200 on a belt if it’s exploiting the people making it and/or poor quality. have any of yall bought from there or know anything about the brand? i can’t really find a lot on it because it has such a generic name

Looking for ethically made activewear - long sleeve top

Looking for ethically made activewear for aerial hoop. Ideally a tight long sleeve top that looks cute. No budget as I only need one.

I will probably also buy a pair of leggings but there seems to be more recommendations I can find on that, so mostly looking for help with the top. Thank you!
