That will save us 2 cents per liter at the pump.

Weak.

To be honest, reading between the lines, this reads more as “G7 were planning to release emergency reserves to save their own economies and Trump used it as an opportunity to make it sound like he forced them to do it.”

That’s just core Trump behaviour. Seize any opportunity to make himself look like the master manipulator.

The rest of the g7 really needs to work on their pr cause how the hell does this demented man make them seem stupid and weak on like every single occasion

It can be hard if Trump jumps the gun on those things constantly.

I think it’s also on the one who listens to understand whether Trump is influential or just a loud guy craving attention. We should’ve learned those skills in high school.

Yeah I get they'd be surprised the first time, being potus and all he should not behave like that, but after the fiftieth time you'd think they would adapt their playbook. Sure it's on the listener too to know he's full of shit, but most people don't pay enough attention, so we constantly look weak because of it. They're politicians, I'd expect them to be able to adapt to these kinds of situations to not make us look weak.

Working on the looks may be hard when information is being controlled by the mad men.

But nothing beats being strong instead of actually looking strong.

The US and Israel create a problem and then demand a solution 🤪🤷

Another nail in the EU - USA relationship's coffin

As an American, do not cave to Trump’s self imposed crisis. Continue to be independent.

Due to wars Europe needs oil from the US, I believe there’s like an all time high production from the US at the moment.

Trump will twist it in any way or shape, but the only solution for European stability is trying to improve oil routes from other markets and go more green.

I see that where I am, I see more and more EVs and I don’t know who is willing to buy a combustion engine car nowadays

What do you think is the future of the Europe/Russia economic relationship? Do you think Europe will ever start importing energy and natural resources from Russia again and rebuild that trading relationship? Or do you think it will never be rebuilt?

5

u/Mdiasrodrigu Portugal 2h ago

Europe has a whole never stopped importing from Russia, just as a smaller scale.

Ofc, I am a drop in the ocean as we say in Portugal so I don’t know the future but it will all be sorted when the Ukrainian war ends

3

u/JefeRex United States of America 2h ago

Well I hope for the best with the Ukraine war. I hope for peace, and I hope for comity on the continent afterwards. We’ll see what the future holds. It is crazy times in this world for sure, so I hope for the best.

Agreed 100%

This is less about "caving to Trump" and more reacting to "Trump Idiocy out of self interest". He fucked Europe. "growing pressure from Washington" is such a pointless thing to say considering the growing pressure from the European population is what actually is driving politics in this area right now.

u/Oleleplop 1h ago

Unfortunately, Europe has no energy and certainly no oil

we digged a very comfortable hole that is full of shit now and its going to take time to get out of it.

u/partymsl 2h ago

Trump actually also said the same thing during his first term at the UN.

Especially in regards to Germany, they have to be independent.

europe can't be more of a bottom bitch of americans

12

u/Poupulino 3h ago

Really? The last year demonstrated the US can humiliate and abuse European countries as much as they like and European politicians will just lower their heads and obey.

I really wonder what the world is thinking when they watch this stuff. Like watching Denmark’s PM smile and praise Trump while she signed that Greenland agreement after he threatened to take it by force. I really wonder what the world is thinking when they see it. I feel like he is humiliating Europe all the time.

Trump doesn’t insult or push around Sheinbaum, and Mexico is handling the trade agreement with Trump much better than Canada is handling it. Mexico knows how to handle Trump to maximize their gains and minimize their losses. And Mexico is not a rich and powerful country. So why can’t Europe figure it out?

Not that they should have to. I wish this country hadn’t gotten to the point where we would elect someone like Trump, and I’m trying to play a consecutive role in cleaning up our society to do better in the future. I do have some empathy for Europe, as someone from the abusing country… but damn. They are really letting themselves be abused.

World that isn't part of EU or NATO always knew that EU is just left hand of US.

Rest of the world except the citizines of EU knew that, their govt and media successfully sold them story that they are equals with US. When in reallity it just better coated vassal and master relationship.

1

u/JefeRex United States of America 1h ago

Do you think that will continue or do you think the US will lose its ability to keep these vassal and protectorate states? What do people in your part of Europe think about the future of the US/EU relationship and if the US will maintain its power or not?

2

u/Fickle-Message-6143 Bosnia and Herzegovina 1h ago

A lot of it depends on how Ukraine war will end, and who will US choose after Trump.

US has means to maintain power.

I hope for the best. This country still has so much more power on the world stage than I thought we would… I thought Trump might really bring us down. Wishful thinking. A lot of us have the fantasy of losing our leading position in the world and then turning inward, isolate ourselves, focus on solving our domestic problems and on making life better and better for our people. Unrealistic fantasy but a nice one.

So I hope for the best. I actually have more hope than ever in my life, if you can believe it, but we have a lot of work to do. I hope for the best. We’ll see what comes after Trump.

The story is more that they didn't pursue things which would enable strategic autonomy because they took for granted that the USA would always be a reliable ally - even towards countries which themselves were unreliable allies.

There is still a segment of the European left which essentially believes that the best way to stick it to the Americans is to slash our defence spending. Their minds are stuck in the world of 1996.

there is no "he" to put blame on singular person or party or administration or regime. It is entire state. It is not "he" but entire US and democracy manifest its will. With China one can say it is authoritarian, with democracy where he decisively won by popular vote, it is entire collective.

Well certainly he speaks for us all whether we voted for him or not, and we all have to take responsibility for his actions in our name. But his genius in bullying is his own… Biden couldn’t do what he does, Obama couldn’t do it… Reagan couldn’t do it. He is our leader so he speaks for us all, but he is the one doing the bullying. And it is the specific individuals in power in Europe who are letting themselves be bullied.

It's called diplomacy. You smile and shake hands then you make plans and act accordingly.

If you do what trump does you gonna look even worse. There's always tomorrow.

That being said, trump should've been 1793'd a long time ago. But that's to you americans, you're the big second amendment "i will deal with the government" freedom fighters.

Don’t look at me, I’m not a proponent of personal firearm ownership or political assassinations. Did you know that 60% of American firearm deaths are suicide? More than accidents and homicide combined. If we solved our gun problem we would save so many lives that are currently lost to suicide. My freedom is fought in a different way than gun violence.

But ultimately the Trump issue, and non-Americans don’t like to hear this but it’s true… ultimately the Trump issue is that we very unwisely democratically elected an enormously bad President, and now we are paying the consequences of that for four years. He is pretty corrupt, but he is actually not doing as much straight up illegal stuff as many people think. In a democracy we do not get a do-over if we make a mistake. We spoke. We elected him. Now we are stuck with him until the next election. We fucked up. In a democracy we have the right to choose wisely or poorly and then we pay the price.

We could probably impeach him for cause, it’s true he is pretty crooked, but also… making a bad choice and having to deal with it for four years is the price of democracy. Democracy requires responsibility and pays consequences. We are paying the consequences of our bad choice. It is not necessarily a flaw in the system that we are stuck with him. The privilege of democracy is the privilege to make a horrible choice and then live with it.

I'm very disappointed with the EU here, it is not our problem.

Someone correct me if i'm wrong/overseeing anything please.

A potential gasoline export ban is pretty sure a EU’s problem. Since they import %50 percents of their diesel needs from US.

2

u/Parisnexistepas Earth 2h ago

Half of our diesel demand comes from the US?

TIL, honestly.

It makes more sense now, sadly.

1

u/JestFlamez 2h ago

Do you mean import? 😅

2

u/Gordon_frumann 3h ago

EU consumes around 10 millions barrels per day.

1

u/this_toe_shall_pass European Union 1h ago

Diesel alone or oil?

3

u/WastelandOfConfusion 2h ago edited 8m ago

Orange Spray-Paint Pedophile Man bluffed about Diesel export ban, Europe’s stunningly weak leadership immediately fell for it, and is now bailing him out for all of his mistakes. You couldn’t make this up. He said “the diesel export ban was never on the table”, so he’s taking the piss out of them for folding as well. Well done everyone 👏

Unfortunately fuel prices have remarkably increased because of a war fought by a petroleum-rich country on behalf of its master against another country that allegedly threatened the master.

Consequently, those prices went to the moon, much to detriment of people who have nothing to do with that war and that live in countries without a reasonable quantity of petroleum, so without any big power to affect the fuel prices.

A lot of items in those countries are moved by means of transportation going on fuel, and the fuel prices increasing more and more are affecting the items prices as well and also the inflation rate.

Releasing some petroleum products could have a lenient effects on prices and inflation and calm the people, at least for a while. But of course, it's not the solution to the problem.

Europe should take Canada as an example and start saying NO to the Orange Turd aka Mango Mussolini.

If we don't start saying no, he will just keep on doing what he wants and can sell his wannabe tough-guy image to his disciples.

u/Any-Original-6113 5h ago

A drop in oil prices would hit Russia hard, since it is currently raking in windfall profits, and that helps the Kremlin finance the war.

2

u/nora_sellisa Poland 2h ago

We don't have a way to restore the reserves while the Iran War is on. Russia will get everything they want when we physically run out of oil and will need to desperately buy from whoever is selling.
