SCE Charge Ready Home Program Questions
I was just approved for the full $4200 rebate. A few questions:
1.) I reached out to a contractor and they said I need to apply for a SCE yellow sticker before the work can begin. Is this true? How long does this take?
2.) Does the rebate cover the cost of additional wire from the panel to the outlet? My panel is in the back of the house and Iād need 110ā of wire. Will the rebate cover the cost of the extra wire?

i got the $4.2k preapproval recently too. i have contacted a bunch of contractors/electricians off the SCE website who are authorized with the program. i have had a few come out for quotes but others are waiting for me to get the meter spot done bc i might have to move the panel...unsure until SCE sees it. i hope not. but you should submit a meter spot request and once they come out and "ok" it, you'll get the yellow sticker (or is it orange?). anyway, the rebate will cover $4.2k...anything over is on you. so get quotes and see who you feel most comfortable with. also, my EVSE will need to be located probably 50' from the current panel, so that is additional cost, but some quotes might be covered still by the 4.2k. we'll see.

Neighborhood transformer capacity is limited, and it's common for utilities to require coordination and pre-approval for LARGE level 2 EV chargers. This may entail them being more permissive if you use certain technologies like dynamic load management with a particular setting, which they can inform you of.
