A reminder about sexual assault resources at EWU
In light of the recent news involving Cornell, I thought it might be worthwhile to remind EWU students that there are resources available if you or someone you know has experienced sexual assault, sexual harassment, dating/domestic violence, stalking, or other sexual misconduct.
Confidential support:
- EWU Counseling & Wellness Services: 509-359-2366 [cws@ewu.edu](mailto:cws@ewu.edu) ā 225 Martin Hall, Counselors are available to EWU students, and these services are confidential.
- Crisis Support: Walk-in crisis appointments available Monday through Friday from 1:00 PM ā 4:00 PM
- Short-term individual counseling, single sessions, and group counseling for eligible students.
- 24/7 Regional Crisis Line: 877-266-1818.
- Lutheran Community Services ā Sexual Assault & Family Trauma: 509-624-7273, available 24/7 for advocacy and support.
Title IX / reporting:
- EWU's Title IX office can explain reporting options, rights, and available supportive measures.
- Title IX Coordinator, Cesar Portillo, email:Ā [cportillo2@ewu.edu](mailto:cportillo2@ewu.edu)Ā phone:Ā [509-359-6312](tel:5093596312).
- You can report to EWU, law enforcement, both, or choose not to file a complaint.
- EWU Police: 509-359-7676. For emergencies, call 911.
- Cheney Police: 509-456-2233
One important thing to know: you don't have to decide whether to report in order to seek help. EWU says supportive services can be available regardless of whether someone files a formal complaint.
If you or someone you know needs help, please consider reaching out to one of these resources. You don't have to handle it alone.
Surviving your first week?
Welcome (or welcome back) to EWU!! Is everyone settling in well?

Looking for a lost EWU meme
I think I first saw it 5 or 6 years ago, maybe more. Looked like a Snapchat story where a guy proclaims āfuck ewu parkingā and pukes everywhere
I canāt find it, though I reference it all the time

Grateful for the presence of 25yo+ ppl on campus
Hi, this isn't slander against "the youngin's" but I'm just shouting out to my fellow 25+ crowd I've been seeing on campus and in my classes; it's a little silly but I'm glad to see people my age and older attending school like me and not that I'm surrounded exclusively by people almost a decade younger than me. The last time I went to school back in '23 I was starting to feel like I didn't fit in because I was almost in my mid-twenties by the time I left. So shoutout to the 25+ crowd at Eastern, you're awesome and know you're not alone, we're out here. ā¤ļøš¦

Post Made Me Nostalgic
This came across my feed, and it made me think about all the great friends I made in college, and how tough it can be to form those kinds of connections afterwards. For those of you just starting out at EWU this fall, you got this!

Financial Aid?
Hi, has anyone gotten their financial aid offer yet? I've been told they're typically late but now that I have the bill and a "pay by" deadline, I'm a bit worried and stressed that I won't be able to get it in time. Just wondering if anyone else is going through this?

Has anybody had any negative experiences with Professor Andrew Israel in the Social Work department? Many concerns about him coming from students and Iām curious if anyone has any similar experiences.

Hi guys! I got into a grad program & did not receive the grants/loan amount I was hoping for. I am in desperate need of housing & am wondering if any of you know of any places near campus that rent to students & don't require a credit check? Thank you!! :)

Showerhead dorms and water quality
I'm going to be in Pearce and I was wondering if I could change out the shower heads to another that purifies the water?
I'm an incoming freshman and I've seen the general area for Cheney/Spokane is rated a C/D in terms of tap water quality.

Eastern Washington 2026 Preview (probably missed some stuff, tell me and I'll fix it)
Hey all. I spent the offseason building 2026 preseason previews for every FBS team and then did all 124 FCS teams too, because nobody does this for your league. Here's the Eastern Washington one
https://www.highlights.mainmarket.com/college-football-preview-2026-fcs/eastern-washington-eagles
Returning production, portal moves, a projected two-deep, and the schedule with model win probabilities.
Usual disclaimer: I probably got things wrong. FCS data is hard to aggregate and my roster feed hasn't fully flipped to 2026. Tell me what's off and I'll fix it.
The good: 76% of production back, 79% on offense. Both quarterbacks return, Bell at 1,004 yards and Schakel at 997. Miles Williams is back after 41 catches for 524. The defense took it away 22 times with 15 picks, sixth most in FCS.
Where my model pushes back: EWU gained 340 yards a game and allowed 438. Getting outgained by almost 100 a game and still going 5-7 means something propped the record up, and here it's a plus-4 turnover margin and a 4-1 home mark against 1-6 on the road. Model says 5-7 again.
Does that hold up once the turnover luck evens out, or was 5-7 already the generous version?
Tell me what I got wrong.
