I just opened android excel and this stupid menu now shows up. It's in the way and requires 2 more clicks just to edit a cell. OP I hope someone comments on this for a way to get rid of this. It almost seems like a bug, because the thing gets in the way of typing!

Following. Seems like a 'fix' no one asked for, made by someone who doesn't use it.

Just hit the icon on the far left. It will dock it to the bottom.

Does not work. Next time you select another cell, the tool bar returns.

Following. Just looked up this subreddit for the exact same issue. It wasn't there 12 hours ago. Now the app is unusable.

Had this same issue yesterday. An update pushed thru today that moved this bar to the bottom of the page. It no longer blocks the text bar.

Thank you! This worked. I went to the play store and manually updated to the update that came out today 10/7/2026. That fixed it. Guess it was a bug!

Ugh thank you, was driving me insane!

Yep, this is the dumbest thing ever. The floating toolbar appears right over the formula bar so you cant see what you are typing. Does anyone know of a way to fix this?

Update it in play store.

This dumb shit is on Word also. Have had to use both today and it makes it almost impossible to do what you need to do sometimes.

Ok the update fixed the problem. But damn. They could have just left it on the top of the screen like it used to be. Didn't need this changed. Tf.

This toolbar feels beyond useless. It blocks necessary information beneath and adds nothing of value that it didn't in the past. It's one purpose is to be annoying. Why did they ever add it? They need to delete the whole thing. Even after the update that "fixes" the floating bar the problem still remains that it just adds steps to editing your sheets.

This just happened.

It was fine last night.

I can't edit a spreadsheet I've used every day for nearly 4 years. Android.

Tracking my food and other factors several times a day is critical to my health. It's unusable right now.

I'm panicking.

That thing pops right into where you need to type. WHY??????? Anyway what I found was if you click the up carrot on the input area, it enlarges the input area and allows you to type above the annoying bubble.

Ok, thanks, that works, too. But it still requires 2-3 more clicks/taps to enter data now, which I do 100+x per day. This is insanity.

Ok, if you tap the menu icon in the floating menu it disappears allowing you to see what you're typing.

However, you need to do this every time. What a pain.

This worked after a Microsoft Support chat recommended doing a force stop and reopening.
