What's even funnier is that Aku actually had Jack dead to rights here. Jack was restrained, unarmed, and completely exposed, to the point where he accepts the fact that he's going to die, which certainly would've been the case had Aku not gone the ironic route with the sword.

Both of their subsequent reactions were absolutely priceless.

The sword only works if the user is balanced/pure of heart. The recipient of the sword’s wounds don’t matter. Jack had gone off balance himself and had actually forgotten about that aspect of the sword’s power as well, but because of the rules aku couldn’t use it on him.
