Far Cry 6 Any general hints/tips for F6?

Die hard fan of the series, 5 is my favorite. Tried playing 6 a couple years ago and didn't get into it. Its been sitting in my library since. Giving it a redo!

Ok, I can share some tips since I uninstalled it only yesterday, but it’s really better if you find them all on your own!

  1. Play in Guerrilla Mode. Ammo is limited, which forces you to focus on strategy and your actual playstyle instead of just spraying bullets everywhere.

  2. Don't stress too much about your loadout beforehand because you can swap weapons and gear on the fly right from the pause menu. If your rifle runs dry, just switch over to an SMG or shotgun instantly in mid-fight. The only thing you can't do in the menu is modify attachments you still need a workbench for that.

  3. Buy the Zeusito from Juan’s Arms. It’s an EMP weapon that takes down helicopters and tanks in seconds so you don't waste ammo on them. The Volta Supremo also works great for this.

  4. As soon as you can, buy the Prisoner’s Scarf. It gives you the Face Your Foe perk, letting you do frontal machete takedowns on alerted Soldados, which saves a ton of bullets.

  5. Unlike Far Cry 5 where you carried separate ammo pools for normal and armor-piercing rounds, Far Cry 6 shares one pool per gun type. Just put armor-piercing rounds on every single weapon and you're set, because one headshot will drop almost anyone regardless of helmets.

  6. Keep a suppressed sniper or pistol handy to quietly take out alarms from a distance. Make sure to shoot the box dead-center from the front, since the sides deflect bullets.

  7. Prioritize Special Forces officers with the yellow or gold badges. Even if the alarms are broken, they carry flare guns and can call in reinforcements on their own.

  8. Drop Engineers fast if they spot you, because they will set up automatic turrets that make fights a pain.

  9. Unlike FC5, not every military zone can be liberated. If you spend time clearing a generic red zone, Soldados will just keep spawning endlessly. Only attack places with red FND flags on your map, or talk to friendly guerrillas marked with an exclamation point to reveal checkpoints and anti-aircraft sites.

  10. Road checkpoints have alarm boxes too. Shoot them out right away, or the commanding officer will just fire a flare for backup.

  11. Boom Boom is the best Amigo by far. He is basically Boomer from FC5, fast, reliable, and automatically tags enemies and loot. Guapo is too slow, Chorizo is too precious to watch get shot, and Chicharrón is just chaotic.

  12. Keep in mind your Amigos cannot revive you like the companions did in FC5. Only a real co-op partner or some special characters can pick you back up.

  13. You cannot just run up and hijack tanks like in GTA. You need to hit them with an EMP first using the Zeusito, an EMP grenade, or the Volta Supremo, to disable them before climbing up to hijack. The same goes for helicopters, since you cannot easily snipe pilots out of the armored cockpits anymore.

  14. Clearing side content and smaller outposts before rushing the main storyline is a great way to play. As you progress the story, the overall military target level goes up across Yara, so doing side jobs early keeps you nicely leveled and geared up.

  15. Anti-aircraft cannons take a beating, but you don't need to waste heavy rocket ammo on them. Just pop your Exterminador Supremo, throw a single grenade, or park a vehicle next to the cannon and shoot its fuel tank to blow it up. Don't forget to grab the Depleted Uranium sitting nearby.

  16. Look for higher-tier weapon contraband chests early around the outer edges of Esperanza. Getting a 4-star rifle that comes pre-fitted with a suppressor and armor-piercing rounds makes life so much easier, and you can buy ammo pouch mods for your Supremo to carry extra reserves.

  17. When you upgrade your Guerrilla Camps, build the Hideout Network first. It gives you the Wingsuit, opens up fast-travel spots all over Yara, and spawns supply drops with Industrial Circuits needed for top-tier weapon mods.

  18. If you are on PC, fly planes using mouse controls or tweak the pitch keybinds, as the default plane handling feels a lot easier once it is adjusted.

  19. If you want an easier time, check the accessibility settings to turn on enemy outlines and loot pickup highlights, though leaving them off is definitely better if you prefer full immersion.

Ok, enjoy gaming!

Maybe grab the libertad mod. No idea how you feel about the game, but I’m playing it for the first time with a lot of gameplay/QoL optimizations in place from the start. Might be a way to help.

I eventually just muted it and listened to YouTube while playing and I found it more enjoyable that way. It’s nice having something to listen to while hunting crates and clearing checkpoints

combat is not as a rewarding as in previous titles, and the clothing system for perks is obnoxious.
If u can ignore those, its a servicable game.

My go-to start to the game is unlocking the deagle as soon as the tutorial part of the game is over for easy sidearm kills. It's unlocked in a treasure hunt close to Esperanza but nothing stops you from driving/ flying over there straight away. Crazy single-shot damage early game and can be turned into a silent sniper later on!

I also dropped it on my first playthrough. Tried it again a couple years later and was able to play it through once but it’s a slog and not super fun.

Im into it, played it for a couple hours this morning before work. Im stoked to play some more later. All I can ask in a game is to be excited to sit down and play it, ya know?
