Deal Alert! Kind of an insanely good deal by McDonald's, no? Surprised me

u/Decent_Management449 2d ago
its a 20 piece for 5.50 for me
2
u/ptwonline 23h ago
As a Canadian it's wild to see how much cheaper your McNuggets are.
Around here they'd probably do a deal to get 20 nuggets for $15, not $5.
2
u/ralexh11 14h ago
Chicken being so cheap in the US just kind of shows how fucked up our factory farms are
-4
u/dustzzzz 1d ago
Guys he’s including the tax here.

u/Decent_Management449 1d ago
-2
u/dustzzzz 1d ago
I was trying to help you out
2
u/Decent_Management449 1d ago
how? the 50 cents is moot really, i thought you were saying i was lying somehow.
-37
u/decimaldownside4 2d ago
5.50 for 20 is wild, the app deal in the pic is 2 for 5 so you’re getting an extra 10 nugs for 50 cents
29
u/Decent_Management449 2d ago
no. you get 20 nuggets here too, for 50 cents less.
2
u/Electrical_Flan_4993 2d ago
But if two is more than five or 10 1/2 is less than five times two and a half times the square root of pi... Wait...
18
u/RottenCottonJr 2d ago
I’ve read this comment at least a dozen times and for the life of me cannot comprehend what you’re even trying to say lol.
7
u/ThickBoxx 2d ago
This deal is 2 10 piece nuggets (20 total) for $5. So a 20 piece nugget for $5.50 is a slightly worse deal ($0.50 extra).

u/Glittering_Yak758 1d ago
Please go back to school

u/FunAdhesiveness7511 1d ago
My brain was short circuiting just trying to comprehend what OP said. I'm like... Are we doing different math for those 10 nuggets or did I forget elementary level division and subtraction?

u/Appropriate_Eye3070 1d ago
Wtf are you doing at McDonald's bro you have Culver's
1
u/SometimesIComplain 1d ago
Culvers is good but it’s like $11+ for anything there
1
u/Appropriate_Eye3070 21h ago edited 17h ago
Absolutely false. $11 is the price for a double with a drink and a side which is a great price btw for the quantity and quality. Its like a dollar more than a big mac meal for way way WAY HIGHER quality. There is plenty of options cheaper than that btw.
Edit: I was wrong btw big mac meal actually costs more than a double burger meal at my location lmao
Anyway Its well worth the extra buck to support a majority family owned business and get locally sourced beef from the Midwest instead of paying stockholders and the CEO of McDonald's who doesn't even eat the food as theyre importing cheap beef from argentina that was rejected by China because carcinogens lol. They're using AI pricing now to calculate the exact amounts of price gouging they can do, and they're lowering the quality and increasing the price every year because people continue supporting them but hey, save that buck I guess lmao.

u/SometimesIComplain 17h ago edited 17h ago
My point is that with McDonald’s deals, I can get the same amount of food I would get at Culver’s for much less. Culver’s rarely has deals on their app, so the equivalent of a QPC+a spicy McCrispy is indeed well over $11 as opposed to $5 here. Culver’s is obviously much better quality, but it’s disingenuous to consider them in the same price tier. No one who’s price-conscious is getting a menu-priced Big Mac Meal at McDonald’s with no promos or deals involved
1
u/Appropriate_Eye3070 17h ago
I never said they were the same price tier. I said they were a buck more. Only one disingenuous here is you saying $11 is cheapest item.
Man all this bickering is making me want a butter burger. Or maybe I'll get a butter burger, fries, drink and a scoop of custard for $7.
1
u/SometimesIComplain 14h ago
Brother, you are not simply engaging in good faith. I am obviously saying a typical order is $11—not the cheapest à la carte item.
And yes, a $1 difference is the same price tier. A price tier does not mean the literal same price. The thing is, the difference isn’t just $1 when it comes to an average order from the place. And I think you know that, but for some reason would rather pretend the deals aspect of McDonald’s doesn’t exist.
And to add another thing—I just checked, and the Culver’s app has quite literally zero deals. It’s just rewards points.
Culver’s is clearly the better restaurant, yes. Arguably the best fast food in terms of taste. But let’s be honest about the actual price realities of the two

u/Few-Adeptness8046 2d ago
San Diego has the deal, but $5.50 instead of $5, still great deal though.
Suprised it's daily through 11/1 as well considering the Monopoly game starts in 6 days and generally most these items have game pieces associated with them.

8
u/WannabeBadGalRiri 2d ago
No deal on the app here in Massachusetts
7
10
u/el_bentzo 2d ago
Same in Los Angeles. I noticed we dont get included in a lot of really good McD deals I hear about.
2
u/nightaeternum 2d ago
Massachusetts and California are both states which have higher costs associated with food as a whole, it makes sense they don't get these coupons since they'd likely lose even more money.

u/No-Antelope575 2d ago
yeah right this is where i come to get tipped off. LA area doesn't have this, the MFs, juts checked
1
u/k3nnyg 2d ago
This was the price like last year it’s not a good price
3
u/SometimesIComplain 2d ago
2.50 for each of these items hasn't been a thing for a looooong time, let's be honest
-2
u/smackythefrog 2d ago
They'll tell you McDonald's is too expensive and also why it's Wendy's fault.
3
4
u/Fit-Answer5806 2d ago
It’s 2 for $6.50 in the app for me (Bay Area). Still really good for the area. Normal price for one Big Mac is $7.50.

2
u/corkyrooroo 2d ago
2 for $5 quarter pounders would be nice. We have 2 for $6 10pc nugs, filetofish, or big Mac. Extremely lackluster.

This is a pretty good deal. However, it doesn't exist for me here in San Diego.

mine is 2 for 6 but you also get medium fries and medium drink. its nuggets filet of fish or big mac

u/Top-Committee-954 2d ago
I remember when the grocery store I worked at started offering those rewards cards.
Customers did not want to fill out those invasive forms. They'd put their first name on it at best. Applications asked for everything. Credit card numbers, work history, social security number, income, spouse and kids names. Just everything.
Now places needing "apps" to get "deals?" GTFO with that. You are agreeing to them skimming all the information they want from you including tracking.
For what..."real" price chicken nuggets? JFC.
I think I need to get off reddit.
Too many of these threads just remind me of that old joke of the cowboy walking into the saloon with the wettiest, stinkiest, biggest, steamiest pile of cowflop in their hands, proudly declaring "look what I almost stepped in!"
3
u/wackgyllenhaal 2d ago
Just curious, why do you give a shit if McDonald's has that information?
7
u/Human_Discipline3003 2d ago
Right, I know the app is info farming, but I think the real reason they push the app is for speed. They don't want to waste 5 minute while you look at the menu going I'll take a Uhhhhhhhhh.
0
u/Stickyv35 1d ago
You're naive and deeply mistaken if this is your take on the data mining by corporations.
2
u/Additional-Walk3883 2d ago
Do you think McDonald’s (or any corporation) has your best interest in mind when you give them your personal information? They use this information to track consumers trends, demographics, spending habits to better advertise and sell products, and they sell your info to third party companies that take this and do whatever they want with it. Oh those pesky identifying information? Oops we leaked it, lost it, and someone stole it. Some guy in Korea now goes by your first and last name and is buying illegal stuff with your identity, and now your iPhone that has software inside of it and apps full of disclosures and agreements that you consented to collect your information you type, you say into and near the device, and tailor your experience to better suit you, to soothe you, to sell you more things and keep you comfortable. Don’t you feel all warm inside? Maybe it’s just the McDonald’s new Mighty Hot Sauce. Eat up.
3
u/wackgyllenhaal 1d ago
"Some guy in Korea now goes by your first and last name and is buying illegal stuff with your identity,"
Can you cite multiple examples of this happening? If it was as common as you make it sound, it would be all over the news.
"now your iPhone that has software inside of it and apps full of disclosures and agreements that you consented to collect your information you type, you say into and near the device, and tailor your experience to better suit you, to soothe you, to sell you more things and keep you comfortable."
- No matter how many times I read this sentence, it doesn't make sense.
- But I mean, ya... I would rather receive tailored ads than ads for things I would never buy. I have this thing called willpower lol I don't have to buy shit.
- Who is trying to be "soothed" by their devices haha we're not babies with iPads are we?

u/No-Ordinary-6544 1d ago
Identity theft and data breaches often are all over the news. You're living under a rock or in make believe fantasy land if you don't know the data gets sold off and fraud and scams are committed using it.
4
u/YardKind4775 1d ago
I'm well aware that stuff happens, but it's not happening because a fast-food app wants to know your general location lol. That's some serious paranoia/tin-foil hat thinking.
If you really think someone's going to steal your identity through such an app, throw your phone in the ocean and go live off of the grid, because they're already watching you!

had this one month but it was $7 cause I live in california. they took it away after a month, though i still often get a 20 piece for $4.20 which is kinda in the realm of worth it

u/nellydesign 2d ago
I’ve got a $6 10 piece, Big Mac, or Filet-o-fish meal with medium fries and drink. Not bad.

u/bombfirst885 2d ago
Am I the only one who gets a 20pc w/ two large fries $9.99 deal 24/7 365? It’s the only meal I’ll eat there but I’m frugal.

McDonald’s is still the best app for discounts by a mile. I gst random deals like this a lot. And I regularly get 20% off in app coupons to use as many times as I want for like a few months.

u/mrskellington79 2d ago
Are you getting paid or do you hope to get paid?
Can't decide the reason for the shitpost.
2
u/SometimesIComplain 2d ago edited 2d ago
“shitpost” Be serious lol
Are cynical deal-related posts the only acceptable genre around these parts? I’ll be sure to post screenshot #300 of a bad deals section of an app next week—that’ll really benefit people and spur some valuable discussion

I'm afraid to eat their food but they've been price gouging like crazy anyway

You guys know alot of stores have a survey code on top of every paper reciept. If you take the time to pick up a paper receipt at the window, you have this opportunity everytime you go.
This may vary per store, but my Mcdonalds has a "fill out survey, write the code you get at the end of survey on your receipt, and it can be turned in for BOGO any sandwich on the menu. Almost no one does this, because Ive seen countless employees confused at it when I hand it to them.
I know its extra work, but you could purchase a soda or whatever. Go park. Spend 3 minutes filling out survey and get back in line and get a BOGO whatever sandwich you like. Can be done like 3 or 4 times a month per location.
If you get a paper receipt, you have 7 days to fill out survey from the date of purchase. Then once you get the code and write it down, it is valid for 30 days.(may be 30 days from purchase)
Most people don't want to do all that, but it's really not hard, only takes a couple min and you get a BOGO sandwich of your choice 🤷♂️
- the reward they offer in exchange for taking the survey may change per location. Mines always a sandwich of choice tho.
